I'm in the hunt for a new TV and have just stumbled upon this one. It seems a great price for a 42" Plasma but I know theres no 1080p. If your just going to be using this for general TV watching and not gaming then I see no issue there.

The Samsung PS42B451B 42" plasma TV incoporates beautiful design with cutting edge technology on giant size screens for the ultimate flat panel experience.

* 2,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast
* 100hz
* Built-in digital TV tuner
* 3x HDMI, 1x SCART, 1x Component
* DNIe+

Product Information

The Samsung PS42B451B 42" Plasma TV has an intelligent power saving feature that helps to reduce C02 emissions when not in use making it a much kinder TV for the environment. This can also help to keep your energy bills down.

For smooth, blur-free images when watching action films, sports and wildlife the Samsung PS42B451B TV comes with 100Hz Technology. This increases the amount of still frames captured from the standard 50 to 100, which helps to eliminate judder.

This HD Ready TV also uses FilterBright technology, which helps eliminate reflection thus giving you an incredibly clear picture. It works like an anti-reflective film, absorbing external light and transmitting internal light. This clever technology also greatly increases the contrast levels when watching in bright daylight so you can always see every detail.

You can also connect your Samsung PS42B451B 42" Plasma up to any HD source through one of the 3 HDMI connections for a pure high definition experience. Connect up your game console for stunningly fluid and detailed game graphics or connect up a blu-ray player for a breath-taking movie experience. This Samsung TV also comes with Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC), which means you have the option of controlling up to 12 Samsung devices from your television remote.

The Samsung PS42B451B 42" Plasma TV also comes with one USB port for connecting up your USB devices as well as a PC input for hooking up your computer. Why not use this stunning Samsung plasma TV as a giant PC display and share your stored photos and video with family and friends.

This 42 Plasma TV also comes with a swivel stand so you can find your perfect viewing angle.

Remember quidco for some extra savings.

Enjoy ;-)

Got this 2 weeks ago for £479. Very nice TV. Get a set of external speakers though . :thumbsup:
Hmm, the speakers aren't very good in this then? :( How do they compare to the Panasonic pls?
How do you get this price?

Personally I'm unsure - I haven't heard the Panny. There is no sense of bass in them and the treble seems too high. Tinny is the word I believe most commonly used to describe speakers like ths. :roll:

They are still ok for general TV watching though, but if you have a blu-ray set up and you're going for the cinema experience, I'd recommend getting a hi-fi system or a high-end PC audio system to support it.
Ah brilliant, thank you! I'm thinking of getting one of these for my parents as a Christmas present, and I'm not sure if they'd ever really get a proper decent sound system, but we'll see I guess! This TV is a great price so leaves room for some new speakers or whatever :) Thanks
I also get £469.99 as mentioned by another poster, how do you get it to £429?
I have this TV a while and the sound is awful. The picture quality is excellent amd would highly recommend.
I have mine connected to a Windows media centre and bose surround so sound is never a problem
I can't get it at this price either??
Sound quality seems to be a bit of an issue with many of these flat panel TVs (my Samsung, mates Sony and parents Toshiba). I always use my surround sound system.

Might consider that a option aswell as this LCD.
