#2
So thats £399 then :-D
#3
have faith :P sky sports this morning predicted spain and england for the final, and some crazy maths logarithim has said we'll win!

(that said, we all know we'll get knocked out by portugal in the quarters ;))

I have one of these sitting downstairs, waiting to be returned. The buzzing noise coming off it is very loud. Upon googling, i noticed 2 reviews on "Very" also complaining of the same problem.
#5
equally though there are decent reviews, AND viking are one of the best dealers at returns :)

+VAT

I think you will find a few stores will be doing this deal with Samsungs, it's not just viking... Best Buy should be doing the same with Samsung tvs.... Currys group did the £10 thing to compete, but think it's on tvs over a certain price & probably limited to a certain number of goals, though not sure, will have to ask my friend who works there.
#20
So it's £399 minus 10% quidco if they honour it (about £360) !

The quidco is the price exluding VAT so 10% of £340=£34 After Paypal fees im guessing it will be around £30 quidco.

The 50 inch model is 1080p, but this is 720p

720p is as much as most people will need - only those who have a blu-ray player or computer would have an advantage with 1080p since sky hd AND games consoles are EFFECTIVELY only 720p

That's my exact plan!

Me getting £400 for nothing will soften the blow slightly off England winning the World Cup.

The World Cup lasts a month though, not a week.

whats best buy going to achieve with that? they only have 1 store at the moment and as far as I can tell, the world cup will be over before the other ones are open.
so its only of benefit to the people who can get to thurrock store?

not worth it
#31
Please allow 14 up to working days for delivery???? must be delivering by horse and cart.

Wonder if there are free TV if u win deals in Spain, Argentina, and Brasil?

I think the big business people are telling us in a round about manner that despite the hype England aint got a snowball in hells chance of winning the WCup;-)

in my opinion a 720p plasma looks much better than any 1080p lcd anyway (contrast, viewing angle, natural skin tones etc)

Would recommend a Panasonic Plasma over a Samsung Plasma though. This one is only £50 more expensive from Currys (same price at PCWorld and Dixons):

Series 5 and above are 1080p;-)

Practically every other nation going to the world cup has a better squad, so England winning the world cup would be like Exeter City winning the FA cup.

What you on about? Most Xbox 360 & PS3 games are 1080p, fool
#38
Can't speak for PS3, but from what I understand most Xbox 360 games are less than 720p, I think there is only 2-3 true 1080p games. Menu screens will be 1080, just not the majority of games.

Actually most Xbox 360 games are at least 720p native, there is more 1080p native than you think. Very little get upscaled as it uses a patented system which hardly touches performance if its a higher resolution. Only 2 games which I know which get upscaled are FF13 and Halo 3 (ODST), I can say there will be more but there isn't many

PS3 on the other hand, nearly all games are 720p. There is a few 1080p games as there is with the Xbox 360, more games are upscaled though. GTA is one of them i believe

Anyway as for the deal, if this plays MKVs and has screen burn protection this is a fantastic buy. Doesn't matter if its not 1080p, Pioneer and Panasonic proved that with their plasmas (they have had the best 42"s on the market and probably still do) A lot of people say 1080p is a must for blu-ray but I honestly can say on my Pioneer Kuro it looks just as good as any 1080p LCD if not better

Voted hot, great buy

Mostly correct, BUT, a lot of games, more and more these days, only have certain elements in 1080p. Take Fifa 10 for example - View it in 720p then 1080p and you'll know what i mean. With Fifa, the only difference is in the OSD (ie scoreboard and players names), and the cutscenes are rendered in roughly 960p.

But I absolutely agree with your comment about the PS3 - Most games don't even bother to upscale - They just reduce the resolution of the input :)
