Make a cinema of your living room with Samsung's PS50A556S 50" Full HD Plasma TV.

The PS-50A556S screen is an incredible 50", using cutting-edge technology for an outstanding flat screen performance. The 1,920 x 1080 resolution is enhanced by the DNIe+ technology to provide really sharp pictures. The contrast ratio of 30,000:1 contributes to the anti-glare coating to leave the images crisp and clear.

Contrast levels in the PS50 A556S 50" Full HD Plasma TV work constantly, adapting to the image onscreen, to achieve the best picture possible. The FilterBright filter absorbs external light as it approaches the screen and adjusts its own internal light to compensate, thus producing optimum picture quality no matter what the lighting conditions.

There is a 3D digital comb filter and digital noise reduction facility, and the colours are expressed clearly through the Natural True Colour technology. The sound is crystal-clear too, due to the SRS TruSurround XT system, and you can connect an additional 2 devices to the Samsung PS50A556S 50" Full HD Plasma TV, making it a truly excellent central home entertainment system.

For this size I'd strongly recommend to go for at least 100Hz or better wait for the new 200Hz model for smoother picture.

Also, the PS50A556S model uses 550W electricity when on. This is an electric heater in your front room. Besides the high running cost, pray for cool summer or get air condition.
Might be good for someone who wants a tv/radiator combo?
LGs and Pannys seem to be the better regarded for Plasma - and you can get the LG PS3000 for £700 from Dixons

read the small print buddy "turns your lounge into a vivarium",,,
the 550w is variable tho, its only a peak power rating and about the same as the average decent spec PC unit.

a plasma TV will only pull more power to create very bright scenes and not use as much to create darker ones.
its the way the phosphors which make up the screen are lit up.
