This telly has been dropping gradually the last few days. £473 for a 50" plasma, you can't go wrong.

Honestly don't buy this. I purchased two for £468 each in December last year, they arrived in Jan, first one failed 4 months ago with a voltage regulation board causing red haze on the screen. After 8 weeks of dealing with Samsung's customer service and the local repair agent I rejected it under the sale of goods act. The retailer ended up replacing it with a Panasonic S20 after I explained I'd rather deep fry my lower extremities while still attached than have a like for like replacement. The difference is amazing, no buzzing from the PSU, no bad IR, better picture and cheap 5 year warranty from Panasonic, I'd really urge anyone considering this deal to spend just a little more on getting something a lot better.

Yep, my Panasonic 50" looks great from 8ft away

Have fun with the resolution! Will be fine for a 32", but anything more?

Just spend a bit more and get a 1080p. Will be worth it in the long run and if you cant afford the extra bit you shouldent be spending this much anyway.

Seems a bit judgemental, TBH. I just posted the deal to 'spread the word' that its available at this price. Surely its up to everybody to make up their own mind whether they can afford it or not?

SuperSambo why would you think the res is an issue ? Of all the negative things I could say about this screen 'only' being 720p wouldn't be one of them. The PSU buzz, two screens failing in under 12months, image retention, poor scaling of SD and most importantly the utterly incapable EU customer service who didn't know Samsung make plasma's yes, but not the native res at the average viewing distance. You may want to read up on res vs. viewing distances, you'll learn something :)

According to Samsung customer services it's quite normal for a tv to only last 2 years, lucky for me Currys don't think that and are sending me vouchers. I'd steer well clear of them as their customer services are a joke.
