just got email about this tv reduced to £599.99 seems the website still not amended yet
Combining a mighty 50 inch plasma screen with 3D technology gives one of the most exciting viewing experiences at its price. Using active shutter technology, 3D images are stable, bold and, with a screen of this size, come right out into the room for an immersive viewing experience! You'll also find amazing depth of image that ordinary 2D TV can't hope to compete with. To complement the 3D compatibility, Samsung offer a high quality plasma screen. With DNIE+ technology the colour does full justice to the most brilliant films. A Mega contrast ratio ensures that subtle detail is carefully recreated, with even the darkest images being skilfully resolved. The 50 inch 3D plasma TV also makes use of 600Hz sub-field scanning. This picture processing system reduces motion blur and is of great benefit with 3D film. Of course, even when watching in 2D this is still a pretty impressive TV. Samsung have an excellent reputation for the quality of their plasma displays and the PS50c490 is no exception. Rich colour, smooth motion and excellent levels of detail - the PS50c490 has got the lot.

When the picture is as involving as this we'd strongly recommend a separate sound system to match. As standard the big Samsung 3DTV provides 2 x 10 watts and a brace of Dolby sound processors. The new Dolby Pulse system makes the PS50c490 ready for the next generation of broadcasts. Dolby Pulse will offer better sound quality from typical TV programs. Dolby Digital Plus processing is also on hand to get the best from the latest block buster films.

When it comes to connecting the PS50c490 up to the rest of your home cinema, this 3D plasma has got all the basics covered. Three HDMI sockets for digital sources are matched by SCART, component and composite for analogue. There's a handy USB socket for connecting up your mobile device, such as digital camera and a PC input for big screen gaming or web surfing.

It might be big, but the Samsung PS50c490 is far from ugly. The slim, gloss black surround gives the TV a sleek appearance and a depth of less than 70mm makes it far slimmer than plasma TVs of old. Added to this, the four point stand offers an elegant way to display the TV on a cabinet.

For big screen thrills with 3D drama, there's never been a better bargain than this

Also need to add a 3d Bluray player. Soon adds up. My Panasonic was £1079 with player, 2 pairs of glasses, paid £120 for a 3rd pair, built in freesat and freeview, full HD and internet ready with its wireless dongle. This tv is ok if your not bothered for full HD and all the amazing features that it holds. Luckily I didn't buy mine as it was a gift.
Big plus to this over mine is the cheapness of the glasses. You can buy a pk of 2 for £129.95
