Do you think its likely that this price will stay for a long time, with the glasses and dvd, or do u think they might pop it back up to 999 in a week or so, or drop the dvd player or something...dunno whether to go for the buy now or wait a little longer.
50 inch 3d samsung + Blu ray player + 1 pair of glasses - £899 (comet)
2 pairs glasses + monsters v aliens - £91.20 (samsung connect)
1 pair of glasses - free (when u buy any samsung tv, samsung connect)
which totals
Tv, blu ray, 4 glasses, monster v aliens = £990.20 (pretty good!!)

think about why these samsung tv's keep dropping in price, riddled with problems. rubbish.
#5
It's a great deal. Same deal but in the £930 region last month was getting some heat so this ought to too. Hot from me, a great TV too but silly me couldn't wait and paid £1400 just for the TV!
Buy it, you will be impressed!

In response to the guy above stating the Samsung TV are riddled with problems and are rubbish.
I can only say I have had problems or complaints with mine in the four months I have owned it.
I assume you have one too and it's had problems?

I am waiting for a replacement 3d TV from samsung, the 8000 series, it developed a fault within 2 weeks. http://www.avforums.com/forums/3d-lcd-tvs/ there is an alaraming amount of Samsung reported faults. Any better or worse than any other make I don't know but it has got me a little worried.
#8
check out avforums, the main 2 problems with this tv are buzzing and image retention . But these are pretty much plasma traits rather than faults. And the I.R. problems seem to get better the longer the tv is used.

Most owners seem more than happy with this tv, and if you buy online can't you return it within 7 days no questions asked?

Got to be worth a punt?

Point to note, comet say this has a PVR function, I bought this a few weeks ago and when finding out it dodn't I sent it back and bought the 50C7000 which does.... the 50C7000 has a SIGNIFICANTLY better picture, in all areas, including SD, HD and 3D..... Although I did prefer the remote on the cheaper one and the newer has a touch remote with no actual buttons
banned#10
Oh and this one has not internet services, no iPLayer, youtube etc it also is pretty picking with HD codecs via DLNA, the 50C7000 has [email protected] and plays everything.... or even the 50C6900 (same spec as the 7000 but without screen bright technology which reduces screen glare), that can be got new for £1039 at amazon or £999 delivered with 3 pairs of glasses from electrical experience

+ VAT on the samsung connect site, I went to buy the glases and Mosters combo, came to over £110 in the checkout... sneaky... bought from amazon in the end for £109 (although now £124 now demand has gone up)... Monsters is really worth it, it's stunning.... get the grand Canyon IMAX too, it'll blow your mind

They arent the same mate, apparently there are some tvs coming out where they are the same, but these ones cost about £60 a pop!
#16
Daft question but would this tv play 2d in 3d?
#17
i wouldnt buy samsung mate but i know 3 ppl had probs with em.
#18
This TV does upconvert 2D to 3D.
#19
the glasses in cinemas are only 1080i images glasses like the old nhs ones, if you want proper 3d you should be looking at tv's with active shutter glasses (requires batterys) for truly amazing picture. with the right tv of course.

How the hell does it do that? I had no idea 3D TVs offered this?

To be fair it adds a little depth to what you're watching, it's not the same as proper 3D up it's a reasonable trick.

only one pair come with this !!!

Well, I was toying with the idea of buying this when I saw it by chance at Bluewater on Thursday for £1,000 with BD player and 2 sets of glasses. Online deal is a bit better, so I just took the plunge and bought it :)

Not the best 3D TV out there, but good enough for my intended purpose of occasional 3D movies plus PS3 gaming at the price.

Just need a reasonable 5.1 speaker set now. Anything available for £100? It doesn't have to be acoustically great, just punchy and powerful for gaming.

I already have a spare 5.1 Sony amp I am not using.

Is it just bad on this TV or all 3D TVs?

Does it look any good on standard console games?

Any 2D to 3D conversion is going to be less than perfect, even when painstakingly done by humans.
To be fair Samsung's efforts seem to be better than many according to reviews. There's a thread here:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/3d-tvs/1276702-samsung-2d-3d-conversion-post-your-results.html

Personally I'm annoyed by something looking wrong in 3D, and that happens quite a lot in converted stuff. I'm chiefly talking about the "cardboard cutout" effect of things being sliced up into a few discrete depth layers. The "Wow" effect doesn't cover up for that very long.

question doesn't make sense

Should be expired, as it's now up to £999. Glad I ordered a couple of days ago :)
#31
gone back to £999 , but with 5% codes still good deal @ £949
#32
None of the 5% codes worked for me when I ordered :(

I agree it's still a good deal with the free 3D BD player included :)
#33
code for comet online is 3005 valid until the 07/11/10
#34
The Bluray has internet connection so you don't need it on the tv
#35
having problems with mine only had it 2 weeks. Model PS50C680 Won't power on after turning off. Eventually comes on after about 5 mins. 3D function stopped working.
Getting the usual runaround from currys.

Word of caution with this TV.

My samsung 3D PS50C680G5KXXU has died after 6 months - sound, no picture, responds to remote, meaning the Y-SUS or Z-sus boards have blown.

Dixons has asked to talk to Samsung, and Samsung to Dixons - Would obviously get repaired until 1 year is over.

£1,000 3D TV for 1 year, with no hope after- AVOID, and buy a Sony or Panasonic - Most importantly, buy with extended warranty!!!
