There has been alot of problems with theses sets. Mine had to be returned due to the glasses loosing sync with the tv (like many others.) the fix for this is to tape up the sensors on the glasses. Another fault is where the screen and sound goes off or a second or two. This can happen a few times a day or once a month. (it has been nicknamed the samsung blink). Also people have been complaining of a buzzing from this set. It is a nice tv but personally i would get a 2011 model (d series)

Lets see ..bought one today for myself .

My friend got this TV a month back from Dixons , so far no problems and the picture is excellent having seen couple of movies / ps3 games i decided to go for this one .

fingers crossed!!

Thank you will have a look. Was you mainly after a 3d tv?
#13
Wasnt really fussed for me but the misses wanted it so couldn't complain
#14
solid TV, no issues, some retention but no biggie.
Plays all formats via usb this far. DLNA is a good addition. Avatar 3d is pretty breathtaking on this set.
#15
Anyone got any suggestions on where to "get" 3D films to put on a USB

Had this set since decemeber, yep ive encoutnered glasses losing sync and yep ive encountered the samsung blink (losing sound) and yep I have very very moderate banding on white screens....but you know what........none of these ruin the experience for me, if i lose sound twice for a second at a time in an 8 hour period, i can live with that ( I know some couldnt), the glasses only seemed to lose sync if i moved about alot and wasnt often - eaily get through a film without it happening. The banding only botheres me on the xbox 360 start up screen, otherwise its pretty unnoticeable.

Lets not forget - its a 50"1080P 3D televison for under £700 - you cannot expect it to perform like a tv costing between £300 and £1000 more.

For those wondering - if you set it up correctly ( no one should ever be watching tv with the out of box set up) you will get a great picture (its a plasma after all).

Nick130980 - I would advise visitng AVFORUMS many many threads on 3D and where to get 3D content, plus best setting to use on obtaining best picture quality / open up hidden menus for 24p playback etc etc

cheers for the advice, ill have a look

Decent price for 3D, I'd personally still rather get the Pannasonic G20 though, plus you'd save yourself £100.

Heat added though

no Freeview HD - just in case some of you were assuming it had.

Brilliant, thanks, been wiating for deal on this for a couple of weeks, did put it through quidco, to be delivered tomorrow for an extra £9:95 which I thought was not too bad, not sure when the 5% will appear on my quidco account, I have never used that before either, so, fingers crossed.
#22
The set does have freeview HD.
I have the set - it's just not listed for some reason.

Have you got your TV yet? is it any good, can't find a review. Does it come with glasses? and is it actually 51" some places list as 50"
#24
get it delivered tomorrow, and I cant find any reviews either as I was hoping for set up tips. I have had it confirmed as 51" screen as it has a smaller frame. Sadly didnt come with glasses so have ordered them off another site for £38
I just wish I had help setting it up as my TV knowledge is about as good as my misses football knowledge:p

If anyone is in the Havant area tomorrow and wants to set up a TV let me know

How did you figure out what glasses you needed? Cant really find any info about the telly, but definitely looks nice for the price.

I just rang up cheap electricals UK, who have great customer service by the way and they told me, but they didnt have them in stock. They do 3 different versions but the price varies a lot. I went for ssg-3100gb just to try them out
#28
Had problems with my 1st set but was replaced by comet and its an excellent tv.
#29
still not guaranteed that the d series will solve the problems riddled with the current generation sets
#30
You may be right but someone needs to buy it and find out.
that may be me. I may get lucky, or maybe not

Shops.

Those are those kind of bricky things (quite old fashioned now) They are kind of like rooms, with things in that you can buy.
#32
These 3D TV's aren't very good, the technology used isn't as good as the cinema 3D screens. :{
#33
Never heard of these things!!

Rubbish, I have a Samsung 46 inch 7 series and DTS delivered through an Onkyo amp, watching a 3D film is a better experience than the cinema. Missus and 5 kids also agree.

this seems like a good deal. Heat.
#36
From Argos site:

Energy efficiency information:
•On mode power consumption 350 watts.
•Standby power consumption 0.3 watt.
•This product contains lead.

I'm sure Dixons left out the 350w bit on purpose, they're just that sort of company.

I'm probably going to get the Panasonic VT30 myself :)
#38
But the technology used in these TVs are different, the cinema screens are more expensive and better.
#39
how much worse is samsung then panasonic for plasma?
#40
had this tv for over 6+ months no and no problems so far
