Currys are selling this for £849, and in my delivery email it says "the delivery will be made by Currys Home Delivery, a partner company of Pixmania."

Based on this I'm assuming it will be the same product Currys are selling and I will recieve 2 pairs of 3D glasses and have a voucher for a 3rd pair from Samsung. Although this isn't mentioned in the pixmania site.

I was also sure I'd read a review somewhere where it stated this had Freeview HD built in, although this isn't mentioned either, just that it has Freeview.

More info below.

Just to clarify the situation with 3d glasses.

The pixmania site doesn't mention them at all.

The currys site doesn't either, but in the kelkoo reviews someone says there is only 1 pair included.

Amazon reviews talk about 2 pairs included and 1 pair with a voucher from Samsung.

If it is 3 pairs you get, then that's £150 of added value, if it's only 1 pair then it's still a good deal but not such a super hot deal as I first thought.

Edit: it seems as if the 3 pairs I thought you got from Currys was as part of a bundle with a bluray player.

Cheapest place to buy more glases, if needed, is here @£48.40:

Temperature went up fast, then back down again.

Some people hate 3D TVs, some people hate Pixmania, oh well.

Further reading from an Amazon review says "Samsung are giving a pair away with the TV in the box and although not publicised, another pair by redemption off their website simply by entering the serial number of the TV!"

If that's correct then we'll get 2 pairs.

Good deal, thought this was the lowest end model to begin with. Was selling at £766 on Amazon earlier this week, until it sold out

Don't understand why it getting voted cold. Clearly people don't agree it's a good deal, despite it being sold for £50 to £150 cheaper than other retailers.

A deal for a 40" 3DTV also by samsung is getting hot votes despite being only £43 cheaper (after cashback).

The cheapest non 3D 50" TVs are about £500. The added value of the 3D glasses which I am now sure you'll receive 2 pairs, 1 in box, 1 with voucher from Samsung, gives £100 of value, meaning you pay about £100 more for the extra function of 3D.

Yet the deal is still voted cold and nobody is contributing any negative comments as to why they are voting cold. Kinda feeling unnapreciated here and thinking I'll just not bother next time, absolutely no benefit to me, but genuinley think it's a cracking deal and thought others might benefit from it.

I can only think there are more luddites than technology enthusiasts on here and people are really missing the point about what this site is about.

I'm done.

Several of the reviews on Amazon confirm this has Freeview HD built in. Another £50 worth of added value built in.

I really want to buy this but really want Freeview HD which it doesn't state is has. Also we can't really confirm how many glasses come with it. Anyone had an email confirmation with any more info on it? Could we return it or complain is if doesn't have the above? Also want to buy a soundbar as it says the sound isn't that great. Pixmania have this one, anyone know if it is any use - Samsung HW-C450 Speaker Bar.

does anyone have the link to free glasses voucher? I bought this TV from John Lewis recently, and had one pair in the box, but if there's another going free - why not!? :)

From what I can see it's this site:

http://www.samsungconnect.co.uk/

And it says "You cannot claim a free pair of 3D Glasses from our site anymore as the offer has ended, please contact the store where you purchased your 3D TV from for further details."

I'm pretty sure there are plenty retailers claiming you can get a pair form samsung, so this may be a different arrangement.

Hiya it would appear so based on the comet site, questions and answers:

http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Plasma-TVs/buy-SAMSUNG-PS50C680-Plasma-TV/680613

"Yes, Definitely Freeview HD."

"We can confirm that this TV has a built in Freeview HD tuner."
#14
As for the glasses, 2 answers relating to them.

"We can confirm that it does come with 1 pair of 3D glasses in the box and 2 pairs of identical glasses are then sent on separately to the TV and automatically. Or if you purchase in store they are collected along with the TV."

"I got 3 pairs with mine.
1 in the TV Box and 2 in seperate Glasses Boxes."

My TV is already ordered so I'll report back for definite on the glasses situation, but you'll miss out on the £14 discount if you wait for my reply. I assume any other retailer selling this will have the same number of glasses included, so this is still the hottest deal, despite the cold votes.

Also
Can this TV be connected to the internet

Yes, this model can access Internet applications.by KevM - Comet Customer Services.

Excellent!

Just a quick question. I ordered the TV and now have an email from Pixmania asking for a copy of my driving licence or passport and a copy of a utility bill for my delivery address. Is this for real? Anyone else had this?

I'd already ordered from them before but no, that doesn't sound legitimate. Retailers who sell TVs have to notify TV licensing of your address but as they are delivering it to you, thay have that already.

I stand corrected, see here:

and here:

I definitely haven't done this identity check for them, but I'm on the electoral roll and resident here for 8 years so maybe credit checks, if used, would show up clear for me. Or it may just be random checks they carry out.

Thanks Willie_Hmmm for info on ID check. Think the problem originated from my Tesco credit card, they frequently check up on the card for fraud - this is good in a way but really annoying sometimes, like when I am in B&Q buying a tin of paint for a tenner and the card is declined until they check it is really me using it. They obviously freaked out when they saw such a large amount for a TV! When it wouldn't work, I paid by debit card. Think Pixmania maybe wondered what was going on and asked for ID check. Faxed through driving licence and utility bill. Got email 5mins later to say they would now go ahead and process order. Now just got another email saying delivery is tomorrow, wow! Really excited, thanks for posting such a great deal, much appreciated.

My TV doesn't come until Thursday, boo.

There's a deal on here for extra glasses for £40, best price I've seen.

Let me know how many pairs you get with the TV or redemption vouchers from samsung. I'd like to have 4 or 5 for visitors.

Glad you appreciate the deal Shelley. I've no idea why it's been voted cold, it's a cracking price.

Hi
TV been delivered but too heavy for me to take out of box on my own. Had a rummage around in the box and can only find one pair of glasses. Had a look at the paperwork that comes with it and there is a leaflet about Freeview HD so presume it has it. Also info on "getting started with [email protected]". Can't see any redemption vouchers for any additional glasses but will check out your link for extra glasses at £40, thanks.

Anyone know any good (cheap) 3D films to buy?
#22
My TV arrived today and I'm over the moon.

As shelley said, Freeview HD built in and 1 pair of glasses (worth £40 - £60).

The deal for the 40" Samsung 3DTV on here and voted hot to 350 degrees, costing £650, doesn't have any glasses. So you're paying an extra £22 to get a 50" over a 40", and that's a massive difference for so little money.

The 3D is absolutely fantastic. I've just been watching side by side mkv files, played directly from an external hard drive, NTFS format, worked perfectly without a hitch.

The 3D effect on the 50" panel is the best I've seen. I have seen most 3D films at cinema and they're good, but the pop out the screen effects just seem to be more effective on the TV, objects genuinely appear to be floating in front of the screen. I've also experienced these same movies on my 22" 3D vision monitor, but the scale of the 50" is just a far better viewing experience.

I'm just about to try gaming on it, so I'll report back.

Also, it is internet TV capable, ethernet slot for connectivity. Not tired it yet either.

Very, very happy customer here.

And it got voted cold. I can only assume because some don't like Pixmania. I paid by credit card, if i'd had any issues with Pixmania, I'd have been straight on to excercise the full and equal liability my bank shared with Pixmania and sought a refund from them. It's a no lose situation.

TV is still available but it's not priced at £749, or with discount code PIXUKFEB14, that becomes £735, minus 4% quidco or topcashback and it's £705.60

£5.60 more expensive than the 40" when you count that the 40" doesn't include any.

This TV is £899 on amazon

TV now set up and it is amazing. Big thanks again to Willie_Hmmm for taking the time out to post this offer so others can grab it. Also thanks for the info about the glasses, I have ordered 3 additional pairs.

For anyone interested, I bought a soundbar to go with the TV (it is fab and the sub-woofer is wireless). Cost £230 but still brings the total for the TV and soundbar to under £1000, which I would never have believed would have been possible for all that kit.
