For clearer images with more precise lines and contours, Samsung presents the PS50C96HD plasma screen.
This screen includes the Smart Frame function which converts the 50 Hz source signal into a 75 Hz signal for images with unmatched fluidity.
The image is recalculated to produce 25 additional frames and avoid skipping and afterglow effects.
The PS50C96HD also features a Silhouette Editor mode to improve the quality of the image by showing movements and contours at 16 pixels instead of 8. Whats more, the PS50C96HDs Anti- screen burn-in protection ensures that your Samsung screen will last even longer!
The PS50C96HD was designed with your satisfaction in mind. Its image inlay mode, Teletext function and Tru Surround XT SRS audio sound system are easy to use and enhance your viewing comfort.
Equipped with a digital tuner for free access to digital TV channels, the PS50C96HD plasma screen brings digital image technology within your reach.

Two issues...

1) This is not the latest line from Samsung (but still pretty good)

2) Pixmania-AARRGGHH! If you need to be convinced how bad they are take a look at their feedback on Amazon. About the worst of any seller Ive seen on there. Have a reputation for shipping foreign models without UK instructions or cabling.

1) only the full 1080p plasma is newer (and several grand) ps50c96/97 and ps50q96/7 are the current 50" plasmas just released this year!

2) no argument there

The ps50q96/7 is availalbe at Curry's for £921 when you use YAW800 = 5% off and AW100TV - £100 off when you spend over £1000.

IMO the The ps50q96/7 is a much better set than the ps50c96/97.

Most seem to disagree, the filter ultra bright causes banding issues for many...

in fact one less HDMI, 5w less powerful speakers and that's about all the differences.

£20 Voucher code doesnt work for me, says Sorry, this offer has now ended.

Surprised to see that when you add the item to the basket & try checking it, they claim to ship from DSG, which is currys & dixons....

John Lewis were doing this at £899 with 5 year guarantee this week. Came off their web site today, as presumably out of stock. I saw one in Cambridge JL on Wed and foolishly didn't buy it. Rang them today to see if still available and they said they would ring me back , but never did. They have other Samsung 50 inch at approx £1400 and £2200, so this was a bargain that I certainly missed.
