Seems like a pretty good deal? What do you guys reckon? I'm looking for a good spec model that's pretty small and portable and pretty sleek as well. Any alternatives or is this the best you'll find for under £600? I'd rather not go for 15-17"...

Also, all the laptops of similar spec which are slighlty cheaper don't have an optical drive which is a big no-no for me. I really don't want to lug an external optical drive around.

I haven't voted cold. But its a Dual Core laptop. Not Core 2 Duo. For this price you'd expect a C2D...Maybe why they are voting cold?

This review http://www.trustedreviews.com/laptops/review/2009/05/19/Samsung-Q320---13-4in-Laptop/p1 and others like it make me think it'd be a good laptop for my needs.

No idea what next gen wifi means but this was posted a couple of days ago. However this Dual Core will be just as good or better than some core 2 duos.

Thanks for providing an alternative. Have given you rep.

That looks like a pretty good laptop aswell. Although I'm a bit wary of Acer and it does look a bit too chunky (the Samsung Q320 looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing :whistling:) I will definitely consider it. It is a lot cheaper...

Details on the graphics Chipset here
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-G-105M.13790.0.html
Seems to be comparable with Nvidia 9300M (ish)

It is cocktail of a laptop - I cannot find comparable tbh
I own 3 refurbs and have always had great dealings with Morgan - 2Gb ram, 250/160Gb drives, Bluetooth, Wireless N and optical drives
Only suggestions i can make are
Toshiba rework A600 12" C2D ULVtype 1.2Ghz but 1.4kgs, 7.5 hrs battery, Aluminium and Black (£549 or£599 with 3G)
http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/shop/detail.asp?ProductID=5404&CategoryID=11&SubCategoryID=363
does look nice - http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/Contents/Toshiba_uk/EN/SERIES_DESCRIPTION/images/hri_Portege_A600_Series.jpg
Toshiba Rework R10 - 14" Proper fast C2D SP9300 Processor (2.26Ghz) ril 2 Kgs nad 5.5 hrs battery

Not that close , i know.

you should not request specs requrement , you should say what you are using it for then we can compare benchmarks instead of brandnames and models numbers

Me ? - i would buy the R10 and put a 64 Gb SSD in it - i want performance and I am am averse to large amounts of data being mobile

Maybe have a look at the vostro 1320 from the dell business site, 13.3" Core2Duo T6670 - 2.2GHz, 3Gb RAM, DVDRW etc for £458.85 delivered. Or go all out for the new P8600 Centrino 2 2.4GHz for £545.10

But look at the price. People who just want a "laptop", i.e. general purpose for a given budget it makes far more sense to get the Dell - I also assume that criteria applies to the majory of users here.

I was merely giving some reasoning as to why, perhaps, people are voting cold.
