As a general but not very accurate rule, 3 cell batteries last in the region of 1-2.5 hours and 6 cell 2-5 hours. Obviously this depends on the hardware in the laptop, screen etc.

edit: this amazon US product description suggests 4 hours

The main selling point on this is the HDMI out, try finding better laptop for this price with this feature.

If this feature does not interest you then I would say this is a decent deal but not a fantastic one, however for me HDMI out is pretty important so if I was in the market for a laptop I would almost certainly get this one.

This does also look quite cool (at least imo) which is rarer in this price segment.

edit: actually after googling I seem to have found several cheap laptops with HDMI out. Silly me. Ah well I still reckon this is a good all round buy.

Samsung is a decent brand but only 2GB ram is not good enough for this price and the processor is not brilliant spec either.

Some nice features but I think this is not an especially good deal. For that money a lap top that can run more smoothly and quickly is to be expected i think but i appreciate the post anyway - thanks!

I know, no one is gonna make friends bringing their hormonal depressive mood in here :-D

Why is this a good deal when you can get a Dell inspiron with i3 cpu & 3gb ddr3, hdmi, windows 7 64bit for a little bit more?
#18
I have had a go at this laptop and its a very nice piece of kit, the Samsung laptops are usually very good, and the 4300 processor is a nice one, a bit power hungry but not too slow.

Another 1 Gig of ram would be good but for this money, its a good lappy.

Battery time on this kind of laptop will be around 1 hour 30 mins average use.

There is a trade-off in terms of build-quality and spec. This Samsung feels like a much more expensive machine than the Inspiron 15. There is less flex in the keyboard, no creaking when you pick it up by the corner, higher quality plastics. The Inspiron is a more powerful machine. (faster CPU, more RAM) Pay your money and make your choice.

Unless the 2GB of RAM is being fully utilised, an extra 1 or 2GB won't make as much difference as you might expect. Maybe a 10-20% speed increase depending on what your doing. XP runs great on 1GB, Windows 7 runs well on 2GB whilst Vista doesn't run well at all!

Am I missing something or is the argos deal (£400 with a t4400, 4gb ram and 3 year warranty) not significantly better than this?

search 'samsung argos' on the forum for the deal - it looks like the link on there is through a referral.

nope not according to this

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/pc-peripherals/notebook-computers/r-series/NP-R519-FA06UK/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=spec&fullspec=F

also it doesn't look so snazzy and is £30 more expensive.

But then you are getting 2 extra gig of ram and a free case so I guess its all about what's best for you.

l was the op of that post not a referal, its direct to argos site ?

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/594290/samsung-laptop-3-year-warranty-3-yr

give the increased processor and ram
T4400 and 4gb I think its a better deal esp the 3 yr warranty
the deal breaker for some will be the HDMI that said you can get dvi to hdmi converters very cheaply
#27

Perhaps you could find a link where it does not?

The T4300 is a nice processor! Nothing at all wrong with it.

For anyone wanting a higher spec W7 laptop, more RAM, and still have HDMI, I'd recommend the Samsung R520.

After a couple of months trying to find a decent spec Windows 7 laptop for my dad last year, I found him the R520 and it's great.

It was about £460 from Dabs but he got about £20 cashback through Quidco. The price may have dropped a bit now too, but based on the price compared to spec of the laptops I reviewed in November & December, the R520 is 100% a £450 laptop.
#35
Hot very good deal as usual a few people have to compare it to a dell with newer processor that ones getting old now not everyone wants a dell or a newer processor the core 2 duo's are perfectly fine
