Ah... just a little bit second-hand! Similar to half dead, slightly pregnant etc. I suppose.

More realistically it means one that went bust immediately and didn't get too scratched up before it was sent back and patched up again.

Second -hand laptops=second-hand batteries. Always the dodgy part of any used electronic item are batteries
