Good price - BUT it is not worth the Original £750 - maybe £650, so £450 is a good deal.
ebuyer sells them for £550

Looks like a good spec for the money. I suppose the inevitable question will arise: does it qualify for Windows 7 upgrade, and if so at what price?

thankyou, i think ive just found my new laptop!
#8
If it had windows 7 and a bit more ram I might have gone for it!.
#9
If it had more RAM and Windows 7 it wouldnt be on sale at this great price. Some people want everything dont they.
#10
Looks nice shame about the ram could have been 3 or 4 gb

Could make it 3 or 4 gig quite cheaply
Come on guys this is a :gift: for Bluray

This isnt the 1080p version tho. There are two main versions of the 610, one with 256mb gpu and low res screen then the other is 1080 with 512mb gpu. Also the GPU isnt really the best in the world either.
#13
using the 1080p version right now, running win 7, and its a great little laptop, does everything, although the graphics card could be better.

i paid 610 from ebuyer earlier in the year...

Little?

16in screen, hardly little

Been waiting ages for a new laptop pref a Sony or samsung, had it got win 7 and a little more Ram I'd have snapped it up, also 16' is a bit bulky. Looks real pretty though

Anyone got an opinion on http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/12050156/Sony-VAIO-NW20-EF-W-Pentium-T4300-2-1GHz-3GB-320GB-DVD-SM-15-5-Windows-7-Home-Premium-64bit-Laptop-Notebook-White/Product.html

I can't find it cheaper but is it a hugely premium price due to the lack of Gpu power?

There is the another NW model which come with dedicated Graphic card, Core 2 Duo processor and Bluray drive. The price is around £700 I think.

Or alternatively you should get this if you don't care about Dedicated graphic card and Bluray drive.

thats a pentium dual core mate, this core2duo is much better + a bit cheaper, i learnt my lesson the hard way, Vaios are seriously over rated and over priced.

You can check here to see if it qualifies for Windows 7. If it does, the cost for P&P is £17.

Bzzzzt. Wrong.

While the T4300 uses the 'Dual Core' moniker, it infact uses the newer Core 2 Duo Penryn core; 800mhz FSB, with 1MB of L2 cache.

The T5750 is also a Core 2 Duo, but uses the older Merom core; 667mhz FSB, with 2MB of L2 cache.

In real world performance the CPUs are loosely comparable.
However most benchmarks rate the T4300 around 10% faster than the T5750.

I just picked up an Acer 5739G from Micro Anvika in Croydon for the same price. Details can be found on their website http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?PNO=ACR14042&PNAME=Acer-Aspire-5739G-15%926-T6500-4GB-320GB-Notebook

No Bluray, but more up-to-date processor, dedicated graphics, 4GB RAM, Draft N wifi, Dolby Home Theatre surround sound, Tuba cinebass booster and 1MP HD webcam. Hard drive is 320GB. I was considering the Sony they are advertising at PC World (NW2600), but I am sure that it wasn't available prior to the sale... hmmm. The Windows 7 upgrade is costing me £12 or so.

That's an excellent machine for the money, good find!
Worthy of it's own thread I feel.
#23
Wow... 1280x800 on a 16inch screen is quite horrendous!
#24
Out of stock

Is overpriced at this, never mind the ridiculous original.
The extra is for the bluray I personally couldn't care less about.
250gb HD is poor.
