Well I got three acer netbooks sitting next to me, so hopefully the gods are smiling down on my local Tesco. Only problem is i'm running out of cash haha

Anyone else finding these deals from Tesco to be little more than vapoursales? Im annoyed at the great Aspire One deal thats nowhere to be found anywhere near me in Northern Ireland and its highly annoying. This one wont be any different for the vast majority of people will it? Think there should be some sort of seperate labeling for deals where theres maybe only a single instance of it occuring.
#15
Looks like its back out to Tesco again!
#16
just wanted to point out that 8400M GS is very much different to 8400 GT and stated in the title,
but anyways a VER HOT deal!

Probably because all the people from the Republic are coming across the border and taking em all with their strong Euros ;)
#18
ooh I live very close to this store...

I have this laptop. It's very nice, and I would recommend it to anyone! I paid about £500 for it, that was almost 2 years ago though (June 2007).

Ive just twigged why Tescos is dumping these laptops.

Windows 7 is released through the first channel in the next week or so.

If that was the reason then they'd be reducing all of their laptops...

Well if its anything like vista they can shove it!. I think this is all just old stock, both the aspire and this are 2 years old, so they are getting rid. It is the same with the Sainsbury's deals.
#26
Perhaps it is just older stock.

Anyhow Windows 7 is apparently what Vista should have been ( and capable of running on netbooks becuase it is not as resource greedy as Vista is).
#27
Long shot but does anyone know if this laptop has a parralel or serial port?

Also is this deal for good or only to cler stock like the acer netbooks

I think its this cheap because its two years old now, but that doesnt take the fact away that its very cheap :-D

Windows 7 is so much better than Vista. Been running on 7 since January. Great stability, performance, will give most machines a new lease of life......

Buy one of these lappies and shove a copy of Windows RC 7100 on it. It may be a two year old PC but it will perform way better than the bloated OS it ships with!

In my experience 7ista still isn't as low-spec friendly as XP was/is.
Though performance has absolutely nothing to do with why I use XP; rather than Vista or 7.
XP is a usable OS, fantastic for power users; Vista & 7 are designed for noddies - they get in the way when trying to work quickly.

Anyhow; enough trolling - this laptop is amazing value for the price!

Try Windows 2000 - an absolute joy to use compared to the later release, in all honesty the only benefit (in my eyes) that XP brought was system restore, other than that they all became resource hungry OS's.

I could boot fully into 2k Pro with just 160mb RAM used on a 6month + install, on XP it is 400-500mb and on VISTA (not on my PC) but I've seen them with close to 1gb even with some of the crap stopped from loading. I just found it laughable that this guys laptop was only shipped with 1gb, BUT on a normal boot 950mb was used up mostly by system processes.

In all honesty however, I don't like changing my ways, I love 2000 as I knew where everything was, XP was much the same when you changed a couple of things. I hated Office 2007, but since writing some reports it has some saving features... :whistling:

how would thsi do for like low/mid range gaming does anybody know, thanks in advance!
#33
I'm not sure if my local Tesco may have this or not. It just doesn't look like one that stocks electrical goods, but I may be proven wrong.

Is there a Number to get a stock check? This looks like a very good deal to me.

i think for low level gaming it will be fine, but of course it would struggle getting anything out of really demanding games.

heres a link to notebook checker have a look mate.

#35
any one managed to find stock?
#36
Has anyone else found this deal in a local store?

I don't want to was my time on a Tesco hunt when it's only at that store?!

Hot deal as you'll be pressed to find a cheaper laptop!
#37
Phone customer services and they will check stock in the stores near you!
#38
Does this deal really warrant 603 degrees, considering the stock availability?
#39
can you give a direct link or do you have to go instore?
#40
Agree, I have not found the Acer one deal anywhere in London, called their customers services who said none nationwide!!! it seems these deals are a handful of reduced latops as a publicity stunt
