My 17" acer has slowly been falling apart and has now died. Dont know a great deal about pc's but this seems good. Would be very grateful for your opinions before buying. Used for surfing, occasional bbci player. Photos. Need something with better build quality than an acer!
Thanks in advance

Not great but this is an ok cpu. As said build quality is good, better than an Acer.

I am looking for something with a 15" screen, decent build and a really long battery, cant seem to find anything that is not silly money, the battery life is important, but I dont want under 15"

Anyone???

Solidly built machine but poor audio capabilities let it down IMHO - it was the Corei3 R780 I had but same chassis I believe - sound was attrocious - very tinny and low voume.

I've been using Bullguard for about 4 years and I have not had a virus during that time. My tightass friend was running AVG free on his PC and I did a scan with Bullguard which picked up 15 infections that AVG failed to notice. I wouldn't use anything else now.

For good battery life, you need a CULV machine - take a look at the Acer Timeline 5810T.
15" Chassis and an 8-hour battery for £380 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-15-6inch-Notebook-Pentium-Bluetooth/dp/B002SG7K3E or £430 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-15-6inch-Notebook-Pentium-Bluetooth/dp/B002SG7K3Y depending on spec.

Unfortunately that's absolutely normal for a laptop - if you want decent audio, you'll need speakers or headphones.

Absolute piffle! Toshiba easily makes the best built laptops, it's not all about whats on the outside you know!

Is the main differences between this laptop and http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-r530-t4300-windows-7-3gb-25/745558 the 1 gig of memory and bigger screen?

Noob - How does this compare to an Acer Aspire 5920g, 4gb RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo T5750, 15" screen?

I own R720 with upgraded Core2Duo CPU, Ram, HDD, SSD and Bluray Writer. and in all honesty I wouldnt pick another over it, not even a mac book. I paid just under £1000 for this last year 1 week after release and it has should its ground, plus over £600 of added upgrades

The issue you will have with Samsung is there support, try hardest not to ring it as worst I have ever dealt with.

From going from desktop to this didnt notice a thing in performance. Plus it size isnt really an issue. Had to pay over £60 for laptop bag to fit all my stuff in but other than that it is extremely light in comparision to tohers. Even those with only 15 inch screens upto 1/3 KG lighter and the sleek gloss finish is amazing. Battery life on my machine not good best 90mins at most (installed software and services running are extremely resource hungry) but I had to purchase new HDD last month and when coupled with SSD I installed after inital new install of OS battery for over 2.5 hours, cant complain there for machine this size

Would recommend samsung over toshiba, as looks does also play a part.

Imagine sat on a train with your all your laptop components fitted into a cardboard box, you will get some looks. I have had many people come sit down next to me amazed at the quality, compared to the rubbish little IBM thinkpads most get given.
