Hi,

Yes, they reacted well but only when they were under pressure from BBC Watchdog which if they hadn't responded in the way they did sales would have dropped through the floor.

Until that point you weren't treated very well at all.

Still, as I understand it all charges prior to the Watchdog programme were refunded if you filed a claim.

Good deal though!

Voted hot, but bare in mind if buying an American Style Fridge/Freezer- the FREEZER compartments are a lot smaller than the conventional freezers, that us British, are used to.

I don't quite get why people are whinging when stuff breaks outside of warranty.
#11
Any Comet codes around?
#12
Lol I was thinking the same thing about this being the Watchdog Fridge. They did extend the warranty and promise to fix the fridge but I'd be incredibly reluctant to buy a Fridge that I suspect to be flawed. Anyway as mentioned before this one isn't & I voted hot. Wish I had the space.

You gotta be kidding! A group of products all seem to break just after the warranty ends but what y'all should be happy it lasted that long?
#13
Watchdog has done everyone a favour as Samsung prices have really dropped especially for this kind of Fridge. A good time to get one as surely they would be mad to let it happen again, so quality control is bound to be a lot better. Voted hot but can't get one as it would never go into my kitchen.

If I bought a £15 radio and it developed a fault after 13 months, I would put it down to experience if I got treated badly by the manufacturer / retailer and vote with my wallet next time.

If I paid several hundreds of pounds for something and it failed after 13 months I would be spitting feathers if I got a hard time from the manufacturer / retailer and tell as many people as possible that X manufacturer's products are unreliable or Y retailer gave me a hard time.

Of course everyone has their own thresholds and a £15 radio to someone may be as important as a £800 fridge and likewise a £800 fridge may be someone else’s £15 radio.

You just expect certain things to last longer than others and although white goods usually get the most use in domestic environments it's highly disappointing if they breakdown within 3 years of purchase, you just expect them to be reliable.

can't tell from piccy, is this black or dark grey??

Mine is about six years old now - and was about £1200 then.

Its worked fine since I got it.

When the delivery guys came with it - they said some had to be returned as they were too large to fit into a few homes.

Its also worth remembering - that you need to have a water supply at the side of the kitchen where you install it.

Fridges shouldn't break. That's why. Oh wait, you probably buy warranties from Dixons thinking you need one?

Yeah? and you probably eat people's babies! What a silly and childish response.

Samsung have provided a warranty as is required by law. They fix within warranty if it breaks and it's up to their discretion as to whether they fix it outside of warranty. People expect to pay little and get Bosch quality. It just doesn't happen. If you look at all the products on the market you'll always find dissatisfied customers who have stuff that breaks.

Just went to comet for a quick look, the doors feel light and flimsily compared to the more expensive Samsungs fridges. Looks the best in its price range. Sales man told me it would cost about £40 for a new water filter, to be changed every six months and £5o delivery. I told him it was free on internet for the 2week delivery. He had to check for himself.

Was going to change my luck and say reduce the price now and I will give you the sale. But my bottle crashed.

Anyone know if comet sales staff could do this?

i have the stainless rs21jgns and its been running well for 4.5 years since we got it, filters for the fitment are expensive but skiing in the states means i can get three for £50, around £50 each in the UK. Just get them delivered to the condo when we are there - oh and I only change them every 12 months, sod the money generating light on the front.

Cheaper models use an in-line filter which sits outside the fridge in the water line - these are much cheaper in the UK to replace as there are non samdung versions!

samdung - appropriate some may say

Currys have now price matched it and they are giving you £30 for your old appliance. Works out £489.99. Delivery £50 for both Currys and Comet but you can pick up from store for free. Done all the homework and now know that it wont fit in my kitchen oh well!
