At this price you should expect an i3. To make up for that this gives you extra hard drive space (still not overly generous) and 3Gb RAM not 2Gb. Takes the work out of upgrading I suppose but changing CPU is far more work. Voted hot.

Card reader is useful for, say ReadyBoost or storage. Nice if you get the £10 voucher and 500gb hard drive.

Oh and the processor speed on the one i got is 2.3GHz, if that makes a difference!

Actually its very nice, not 'plastic-y' at all. And for what i need it for it is very good.
Internet is fast, used to store and view photos, watch the odd movie!!!

Strange, as I have just phoned my local Asda and the young lad on the entertainment laughed at me when I asked about an I3 sub 300.

I have never seen one to be honest, not with half decent other specs either.

If it was me buying I'd save up my pennies and then spend the £30 extra and get one of these:

Samung R525 (Althlon X2 M340, ATI HD5470 graphics, 2GB RAM (cheaply upgradeable later), 250Gb Hardrive)
OR
Toshiba Satellite C660-173 (i3 370M, 2Gb RAM, Integrated HD3000 gfx, 250Gb)
(there's also an alternative with the i3 380M for the same price which has worse integrated graphics if you'd prefer that route)

Never been a big fan of Celeron processors as for the laptop in the OP.

Or if you're really strapped for cash surely buying this @£250 (even if you pay to upgrade the RAM anyway once you get it) is a much better option: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-thinkpad-sl510-intel-dual-core-2gb-ram-320gb-hard-drive-bluetooth-hdmi-we/924590

Every time I visit my little Sainsbury's on the corner there is still a box and price for their emachines E732Z. Whilst it is not available online the reviews are here, http://reviews.sainsburys.co.uk/2678-en_gb/120987399/reviews.htm and I've seen it posted for a similar price (or less) here on hotukd.

That's why you don't ask at the entertainment counter for hot deals, I laugh at those, look here instead :D

Given there are many Pentium dual cores and even some i3's

This spec is crap for the money,
