People will probably moan about the screen resolution being 1366x768. Seems like a nice spec to me though.

For the spec, with free delivery it's a great deal.

The only compromises your making compared to the RF510 @ £700 is no USB 3 and a slightly worse graphics card.

Great deal.

Looks good to me. Would use this to play movies through the telly anyway so screen res means nothing to me
#7
can get sandy bridge machines for this sort of money now.
if has better screen or better gpu then fine but as it is ..bleh
#8
Ooh a 315. Exciting.:|

Rest of the spec decent, wouldn't want to pay more than £480 though.
#9
worth having a look at the sony deal for this price, similar specs but better screen:

Anything over £400 is overpriced without proper gpu and sandy bridge

How's that work then? The Sony in your link is £150 more.
#14
Im afraid I agree here though depends on your needs, superb for video playback etc but needs a 5650m minimum in it and around £450. As it sits £400 is spot on, £540 nope though watch all these now older intel systems drop in price to make room for sandybridge and shiny new gpu's from amd and nvidia. Dont forget to research notebookcheck for details on the new amd 6000m and nvidia 500m gpu's before buying because some are rebadged previous generation. Hope this helps...

Check out the lower model:

product you linked was actually 250 more so not really in same ballpark at all
cheaper f range is more expensive for lesser spec in general
also if its the same size as fw range which i have then its quite alot larger than a regular 15 incher
you should be comparing to an e series if any

Blu-ray, 1080p 16" screen, Core I7 processor, GeForce GT 425M GPU.

Samsung has 6gb ram and 640gb hard drive, but still would rather pay the extra for the Sony due to the above.

Dont understand the obsession that most of the people have in HUKD for the cheapest option.
You dont buy a laptop everyday and you will surely are going to want value for money! not just whatever is cheaper!!

Now looking at the lower f series option, for 70 pounds more (£ 609.00) you get:

- Intel® CoreTM i5-480M / Same but you can upgrade
- NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 425M 1GB / BETTER
- VAIO Display (1600 x 900 pixels) / MILES BETTER and for 20 quid more go HD
- BlueRay Writer / AWESOME
- RAM and HD a bit less but hey!!

you should be comparing to an e seires if any

only brought it up because of the nvidia card, in that sence is similar. For me this has always been a requirement but I understand that for some people it doesnt matter. Then the E series could be cheaper..

Surprised how cheap some of the Sony deals posted recently have been.
This seems underwhelming for the price unless it’s particularly well built.
I’d be looking at the Sony deals or an XPS 15 especially if you want to play games as this graphics card is very low end; hardly worth a mention in the deal title.

sorry because i dont agree with the relevance of your comparison i am being cheap?
no i dont thnk so - i am just showing how you that if you are not willing to compare in the same price bracket then you are wasting your time.
your first link was almost 50% more!!
a better laptop for more money? what a surprise.

Sorry should have pointed I was refering to the lower version, thought that by putting "sony deals" people would look into a bit further.

Good to know the options though, more expensive or not is to each one to decide what is a "better" deal.

Funny HotUkDeals!

I posted the same deal HERE a week ago when it was £10.01 more than this one but still the cheapest deal for those spec I could find. For some reason it didn't get this hot. I'll never understand hotukdeals :|

Exactly, if you're worried about picture quality, aren't you then gonna be bothered about the screen size for real enjoyment.

yes you referred to the lower version AFTER having referred to the higher version as something 'the same price' if you didn't mean to link their then be more careful/clear with links.

your lower version isn't even equivalent anyway. the ram and hdd are inferior so to properly compare you need to factor in the cost.
either with sonys own high price or by selffitting, at least another 50 yourself or 100 or so by sony.

tbh id take neither the sony or the samsung here.
whilst id love the (higher) sony its not a sum id pay and i dont think the screen/gpu are good enough on this samsung to make a rounded machine for my needs.
but then, everyones different.

It's irrelevant, the deal is expired so the Amazon is a better deal imo.

sony deals have gone up as well..

shouldn't this deal be expired?
