Samsung’s exclusive USB On-board technology reduces the length of the HDD, making the compact external drive smaller than a passport. The S2 Portable features up to 1TB for data-hungry users. Unlike desktop external drives, mobile external drives can be an accessory to highlight style as well as functions. Samsung’s S Series portable external drive combines an elegant, glossy front cover with a sophisticated printed pattern and a luxurious, leather-like back cover.

For data security, the S Series drives support Samsung Auto Backup and SecretZone programs. Samsung Auto Backup program can backup data in real time or per a prearranged schedule. SafetyKey, a program that can save backed-up data with a password, is available as an option. SecretZone ensures seamless data protection by creating a virtual drive in the external drive for data encryption

Good price for a 1TB 2.5" drive, but I hate that they hard wire a usb socket on it as it makes the drive less flexible i.e. I can't pop it into a Ps3, or upgrade a laptop, or put into a usb 3/esata case.

hello anyone. How can I start a new topic on here? Do I have to post a deal first or something? I just want to find out from those who ordered the pink racing car bed from argos a few months ago whether anyone actually got a delivery.

i wish there was a 1TB drive this cheap that would fit in the PS3 :|

I can't see where this says it's a 2.5". Samsung only list up to 500Gb on the 2.5" S2 range on their website. Can anyone confirm it's 2.5? Cheers.

edit - nevermind, found it on Play for a tenner more but confirming it's a 2,5" cheers OP!

I have the 500GB version of this and it is actually smaller than WD portables though slightly thicker. Hmmm time to think...to buy or not to buy.

HOT.

Great price - although you could have picked up two Micheal Jackson 500Gb versions for around £60 (_;)

As loopie says you can't strip the drive out and use it elsewhere; also, unless this is considerably faster than the 640Gb version I bought, don't expect to fill it in a day X)

Very nice looking drive. It comes with a mini-USB cable and snug fitting carry pouch which unfortunately doesn't have anywhere to store the mini-USB cable.

No; "portable" just means you don't need a fork-lift to move it :3

2.5" and USB powered is what this is and that's what let's you know it doesn't need an external power supply.

Where on earth can you get 2 Michael jackson 500gb hard drives from for £60? These drives are over £60 each which makes this one @ £80 a very good buy!

Think I bought back in the day the MJ 500gb drives for £34 each..... good times, good drives wish i got more..

theres no 1tb drive that will fit a standard ps3 internally. whilst it's a 2.5" drive, the height is 12.5mm whereas the standard height for 2.5" drives is 9mm, so this drive wouldn't fit inside a ps3 or most laptops, so the issue of the usb connector being attached to the drive itself doesn't matter too much. it means you can't use the drive inside a small form factor pc like a HTPC though

the biggest 9mm height 2.5" drive is currently a 750gb drive, which you can get for around the same price or less

Sorry my poor furry Wombat brain seems to have badly mis-remembered the price back then - although I'm still sure I saw a deal cheaper than that I can't find it. There was a flurry of deals as retailers dumped their MJ stock.
At least I can stop beating myself up about how much I paid for my 640GB ;)

Anyone got any good deal recommendations for a 2.5" 1TB+ hard drive? I'm looking to upgrade my 320gb macbook pro unibody.

Any suggestions (especially by PM for convenience pour moi) is much appreciated guys.

Spot on. Yes, it's very incredibly badly advertised and described.

I guess it can be voted hot if you think it's worth paying twice as much for storage to be USB powered and a bit smaller...or take a double plug with you and the extra couple of grams of a larger drive.

Not for me.
#29
I've got this drive :) looks a really nice drive and transfer speeds aren't told bad either! I
Payed £100 about 3 weeks ago though :(

This is a cracking deal - and Samsung drives are always good these days! I've just gone for the WD MyBook 2TB for £99.99, as I just want to use it for storage and not as a portable drive. If I hadn't found the WD one for that price I would've gone for this!
#31
anyone has this drive? any opinions?

it was for 74 pounds on amazon but was out of stock, now came back to 84
