Great price. Thanks OP.
#4
i dont know why is it cold (almost) cheapest brand new / sim free from a reputable high street seller
#5
by £0.95?
#6
probably a silly time to buy SIM free as no doubt vendors will drop the price by £100 or more once the new model is announced in March.

...and I say that with caution as I tend to dislike these sort of comments myself! It is very close to the S8 announcement though. This phone is exactly 11 months old.

Phones seem to be holding their value extremely well this year, I waited for these (and G5s) to drop last Black Friday / Christmas, nothing at all... In fact the G5 has increased in price and been superseded by the rubbish downgraded SE for the same money.
Doubt they'll drop by much when the S8 is announced tbh so this seems like a decent deal to me.
This or Google Pixel??? Can't decide.

I have been informed by someone within Three that S8 is going to be significantly more expensive then the S7. Don't know by hoe much but I wouldn't bank on the S7 dropping by much if at all. Given that the deal for the Gear Fit 2 expires at the end of the month, I would say now is the best time to buy if you are looking for an S7 Edge. Even if you don't want the Gear Fit, you could probably sell it for in excess of £100. Hot from me

No one within Three knows how much it will cost - unless your friend is *really* high up. Phone shop staff *have been known* to talk utter rubbish - they do spend all day every day trying to convince people to buy contracts after all - so if that's what he or she is then I'd take it with a pinch of salt. If they somehow have magic connections then fair play to them.

Discontinued items always drop in price, so even if the S8 *is* significantly more expensive it won't mean the S7 Edge will still sell everywhere for the same price. I seriously doubt the base S8 will be more than £649 anyway - and the base model is the same size as the S7 Edge this year.

This came from someone who wasn't trying to sell anything. He also didn't make any claims as to what it would sell for. Only that it would be significantly more expensive. My point was that expectations of the S7 dropping by £100 was highly unlikely. I'm sure it will drop a bit but of course by then the Gear Fit offer will no longer be available for free so the overall package will a worse deal then what alan3 has posted.

Depends if you actually want a Gear Fit.

Your friend might not have been trying to sell anything but neither are my friends when they come out with BS. Sometimes people just like to say things :P not saying your friend is but the point you haven't answered is - how can they possibly have access to this sort of information when Samsung haven't provided this information to anyone, never mind shop staff.

This phone will be much cheaper in a few weeks - I'm simply going on form. If you really want an S7 Edge and a Gear Fit 2 (and don't mind waiting to redeem a voucher and for the item to be posted, and also don't mind paying close to £600 for a year-old phone that's about to be superseded then this is a cracking deal.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree :P

Agree to disagree :p. We will know in a few weeks. Personally not to fussed about a Fit Gear but given its retail of around £180, should be able to sell it easily for £100+. Just trying to say that even after the S8 comes out I very much doubt the S7 edge will be as good a deal as it is now. Unimpressed with how much the S6 still sells for. Its not much cheaper then the S7. If I was going to get an S7 now would probably be the time to do it. Personally undecided as the specs look good (if they are correct).

PS. that same source said something about a button on the back instead of the front. Home button possibly?

So you make an assumption that the phone will be "much cheaper in a few weeks", based on nothing other than an assumption despite that assumption being dis-proven with the S6. You may be correct but things do seem to be changing and while they are always going to refresh the line up every year, they're also going to carry on charging as much as they can get away with for the older versions. In this instance, I particularly dislike the notion of losing a physical button on the front. It's highly unlikely, in my opinion, that the S8 is going to offer anything mindblowingly new and strikes me that this deal remains excellent value at the current moment in time. Also, no grown adult should have an issue with waiting for 30 days to claim a free £169 gadget (which is delivered next day once dispatched), especially when they can just sell it on eBay and get at least a ton back in cash (based on recent 'sold' prices)- effectively rendering the phone at £470 or lower.

The S6 got a lot cheaper after the S7 came out actually. I wouldn't personally say the S7 is worth £470 regardless but this is all about opinions I guess.

Can get this deal for £530 on Samsung including a free Gear Fit 2 which you can sell for £130 net so £400 for an Edge is a good price.

The S7 is way ahead of the S6 as far as I'm concerned, camera / waterproof / SD / battery etc etc etc.
#17
... Second hand S6 still going for nearly between £250 and £300 around here btw.
#18
With companies using Brexit to hike up prices, I also believe the S7 will not see a significant drop in price when the S8 comes out. The S6 edge new is still going for circa £300 as someone already mentioned.
