I think everyone by now knows the specs so I will skip over the blurb, my son is buying one of these no matter what I say so I would like to get hukd members input as to if this is the best price at the moment. We were going for the carphone warehouse deal with the free speaker for £779 but after looking into it the speaker is £50 on amazon and the cashback is only £5 so unless you want the speaker its not worth it. All comments good and bad welcome as I'm trying to put him off this as he has a 64gb s6 that's perfect.

I also have a 64GB S6, and despite hammering it the performance is still great. Literally the only complaint I have with it is the battery life, but I'm not willing to pay £700 to improve it. At the very least I'm waiting for reviews after release.

S8 plus i think is a good phone (i have not held it or used it) but seeing "pre release reviews". I am looking for new phone too (but i am prepared to wait 6 months max)

Personally think i do not wana pay anything over £35 a month with about 15 Gb data. The exploding of the note 7 messed up my timing big time.(my contract ran out and flagship phone being launched at same time hmmm not great )(if note 7 was not litterally on "fire" i would be getting on of those for around £35 per month as that would be still flagship phone without flagship prices.

Buying outright hmmm i think £700 is too much for a phone. (for me) i know i know some people spend more on a saturday night out.

If money was not an issue i would go for S8plus.

(on a differnet note (no pun intended :p the whole Korean peninsula might be on fire by the looks of things.

Can anyone please tell me if the galaxy
S8 and s8plus include IRblaster?

*typed on my Note4

They built a peninsular with books?
That makes Trump's wall idea look kind of puny by comparison.

I knew this thread would be fertile ground

Decent price but still too expensive and the iPhone 8 will have better specs
#12
Is it too optimistic to wait for the 6gb RAM version to drop in UK in coming days. I read some reports that Samsung may bring the Korea and China exclusive 6gb ram model to other markets as well.

the i phone 8 will be 1000 pound.im getting the standard s8 theres no different in specs between the s8 and s8 plus except the screen size.great price from the mighty amazon alough

I thought s8plus had a bigger battery? Hmmm but again bigger screen so that advantage evens out i suppose.

I think once phone is out we will hear a lot more about the real feedback from users (not the carefully managed PR like all companies do)

also in another samsung post someone posted that pre sales were a flop and that they was going to do a deal with the vr head set included like what the us are getting included.however spoke to someone from ee and he told me pre sales were going great.

LG G6 is miles better.

its also very strange amazon have only discounted the plus the standard is still the same price.perhaps many thinking like me that extra screen size is not really important for the extra bucks.

havent got the slightest worry about the battery this note issue is old hat its been running now for 100 years.ive never had a single problem with any samsung phones.and im sure thyve done everything possible testing wise to the batterys etc.another fiasco like the note would finish samsung in the phone market.

EE have a vested interest in promoting the phone though. Personally, I suspect pre-sales numbers would be low. The smartphone market is pretty mature these days, and fewer people will fall over themselves to be the first to spend £700 on a phone that isn't much better than the previous version. Also, Samsung's reputation has taken a battering as well since the exploding battery debacle. Other companies have also caught up and even overtaken the Samsung in terms of their flagship offerings eg. LG G6.

i agree with most of your comments however lg are miles behind and they will never surpass samsung in the smartphone market.if it wasnt for the note battery issue samsung would have probably 40% of the market share with apple a clear second.also the s8 from the s7 edge you can expect about a 20% performance increase.i paid 550 for my s7 edge after the handset had been out about 6 months.im happy to spend the extra wonga for the performance increase.

mazingerz. Iphone8 have better specs. i bet it wont. explain? iPhones are about 2 years behind Samsung in terms of specs. the only advantage of an iPhone is that Apple have control over everything do they get the best out of the lower spec device

everybody knows apple release there handsets last so that they can copy others specs.even the die hard apple fans are noticing that also.but as you rightly say they have control and people will still buy there products as will they samsung

Performance isn't where the phone market is heading and it's not where the sales are. Phones are already fast enough. 99.9% of people do not need a SD835. It's real world usable features which will drive sales and create brand loyalty. In that regard, the LG G6 easily beats in the S8, and I say that having owned 4 different Galaxy phones. The S8 is good but it's also full of useless marketing gimmicks and doesn't move the game on at all. It's also been brought out early because of the Note 7 debacle. Samsung's large market share in the sector is primarily due to their absolutely huge marketing budget (around $14bn a year), not because their phones are better than the competition.

no i agree picard the one negative for the s8 is that they couldnt sort the fingerprint sensor out it was supposed to be under the screen where the home key used to be.putting it on the back was pathetic and they might as well just released the handset a bit later.and also agree that the extra gadgets are pretty worthless well to me they are anyway.soon they will be able to make your dinner for you.

i need a new phone to replace my broken s7 edge but am leaning towards a refurb s7 edge again. for an extra 400 it is tricky to see what extra I am getting for the money. marginal better cpu. same ram, same camera, 64 vs 32 gb storage but I was no where near filling 32. plus i like the physical 'home' button for fingerprint access and quick doubleclick for camera.

happy for any opinions to tell me i have got it all wrong.

The camera is at minimum slightly better by most reports (although the S7's camera is already brilliant), you get the larger and better screen and you also get another 2 years of guaranteed updates from Samsung. There's not a huge amount in it if you already have/had a S7 in my opinion.
