Hot - that's about £15 less than I paid for this exact model a few months back (from ebuyer)

No complaints though, nice and glossy, usb powered and hasn't needed drivers on any PC I've attached it to.

HOT
only for AMAZON...
Ebuyer would've taken a major freeze from me

Bought this exact model from amazon a month or so ago for £35 delivered... mainly got it to install win7 on my family's aspire revo 3610 HTPC. Can confirm that this worked with absoloutely no problems on windows 7 and ubuntu 10.04.

Got the very same Samsung USB powered DVD/CD writer and reader for about £18 delivered through http://twitter.com/dealsexpert

I think it was on offer from O2. Don't know if its still available.

Good spot.

Why? Do BT sell them too?

For those who are buying to install OS onto netbooks with no drive just use this (with USB drive):

Absolutely easy and works like a dream (and it is free).

Are you sure the o2 and the Amazon drives are the same. The pics look different.

I wondered that. The O2 one doesn't even list DVD-R as disc that it reads. Surely it must!?

Samsung sell / ship two diff models...

Drive from Amazon

Drive from 02

I ordered the O2 one - fairly sure that it will support DVD-R as well, it support dual layer so I would expect so. I'll update when it arrives.

Says: DVD+RW DL... and looks like the SE-S084 model.

An Amazon seller has them for £39.95.

Hehe... BT used to own O2... hence the confusion!

Thanks for posting that. I thought £31 was good, but £17.50 is a total steal.

I haven't got a confirmation email from o2 yet, though. I'm starting to worry.
#19
It's not showing up in my orders either, though. So I can't track it. Their website is a complete mess.

The o2 one is an incredible bargain, just ordered one and got confirmation. Get rid of this deal and replace it with the o2 one, free next day delivery too. Perfect timing as I need one for holiday, leave on Saturday!
#21
Wait, so does the drive from the O2 website NOT support netbook booting? I thought as long as a computer supported USB booting, you could use any CD/DVD drive?

Agree, is it acceptable in this day and age?

Booting to a USB drive is a BIOS setting... all Netbooks should support this.

I wondered this (posted in the other thread) but I think it will

O2 never send comfirmation emails, last two phones I bought just came without an email from them, login and track it on the site if you're bothered.

Yes they do. Mine came through but took about 15 minutes. I also got one for my O2 Joggler from them.. The order process also tells you you will get a confirmation mail.

I'm giving this one heat anyway - it's still a very nice deal

does this work/compatible for those HD media players such as this one?http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-1080P-Media-Player/dp/B002VAVR4A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1279113282&sr=8-1

Been wondering this myself, anyone got any info?

Not official, but if you use custom firmware you should be able to. Will try once I get them.
#27
nice one ordered from o2 with TCB
#28
That is an absolutely sweet deal.

I looked thinking the 30 quid amazon one was good, but £17... insane.

Not even bought the netbook to go with it yet, but at that price... :)

H&R OP types!

Strange, I paid pretty much this exact price from amazon 3-4 months ago.

Why when the other one is nearly half the price?
