Only at 720p and only via hdmi > dvi and if HDCP compliant unless Sony have something in firmware to get round that now.

The 940mw I have you get no picture via hdmi>dvi even though 940mw is supposed to be hdcp compliant the 2 I have do not work as they should made in march 2006 ones made after that date work as I bought another 1 of the 940mw's which works over hmdi>dvi at 720p. So if the SM2032BW is HDCP it will/should work.

Not on TV's:

Still, an excellent price!

Its not a television - its a monitor.

I mean, would be any good if I plugged an HDMI cable from a Freeview box into it?

Mental price. HOT

Just typical!

I have only just bought one from PC World 2 weeks ago at £150. This is therefore a good deal - especially if you can get PC World to price match the new price.

I got it from there because I wanted an easy route to return it if there were missing pixels or dead spots etc. I didn't like the idea of returning one via RMAs and postage. As it happened, it is perfect.

It is a good monitor, but you have to remember to put your sunglasses on before you first turn it on. The brightness is set at 100%. I now have it set to 15%. You have been warned.

The stand is a bit wobbly, but that is not really that much of a problem unless you insist on bashing it all the time.

OMG black gloss, permanently covered in dust:w00t:

It should just look Ok even those with freeview built in do not look that good on tft well they are okish

Take a look at the MW version also. It's a monitor & TV capable of 1680x1050 and accepts 1080p input from my PS3.

It flummoxed me how seemingly accepts a 1920x1080 at 50/60hz which is 1080p and yet in PC will only allow 1680x1050

Thanks, great deal.

Is this the best monitor currently available at this sort of price??
#21
Anarchist make a quick dash down to the PC world you bought it from, the price match promise covers you for up to 7 days after purchase.

These support HDCP too.
#23
Good deal.
Remember Insight have a 22" Samsung for about £20 more if anyone wants a larger screen.

I think you could indeed, however it doesn't have an HDMI input. So the question is, would you want to?

Great monitor, but no HDMI I'm afraid.

Yes but you can get a DVi to HDMI converter for a couple of pounds

IIRC the native MW resolution is 1050, so you would loose 30 lines with a 1080p input (it down-samples)

My Dell monitor is 1050 lines also, but only upscales a 720p input.

Obviously a 1050 resolution is better than up scaling 720.

I bought one of these almost a year ago now and it's served me very well. Been using my 360 through it and it looks decent at 720p, slightly stretched as it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping but you never really notice.

I'm using the HDMI on the 360 to the DVI on the monitor with a HDMI-DVI-D cable. Remember that this monitor has no speakers so you'll have to find something else for sound duties, I'm using optical out to my PC

To the above, cropping may be better quality but losing 240 vertical lines would be fairly critical in gaming.

I bought another Samsung 20" from ebuyer yesterday for a fiver less, this one:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/115080

Can anyone tell me whether this new one is worth the extra £5 / what the differences are? Cheers!
#33
I have the 2232bw which I believe is essentially the same screen but 2 inchs bigger (same resolution) and that works fine with a PS3 in 720p when connected via a HDMI-->DVI adapter. Giving it a 1080p input results in the monitor moaning about the resolution and doing a really ugly downscale; 720p is far far nicer although the image is a bit soft due to the upscale. While the monitor is perfectly usable with a PS3 I definitely wouldn't buy it if that's what it's primary use will be. (I use mine primarily with my PC and occasionally with my PS3)

This one is quite a bit nicer, it uses a more modern panel which has better contrast and a quicker response time, plus it looks loads smarter.

Does this go up and down as well as tilt??? i have the SyncMaster SM205BW 20" TFT and is a superb monitor,
#36
I don't think it has height adjustment.

I ordered this last night, just saw the payment processed mail. I selected super saver, so free, it apparently wont turn up until next Tuesday, so just an FYI for all those who are looking for super saver.

It doesnt have height adjustment.

I was going to buy the SM2032MW LCD Tv ,it was just going to be for pc use and to connect my xbox via hdmi, would it be worth saving money and going for this monitor insted and connecting my xbox via Dvi?
