Just purchased two from the main UK disti who got 900 returned from Argos, which is why they are so cheap. Plugged the first one in and the TV Tuner is appalling, tried fine tuning ect.... The poor excuse of a manual that came with it even says that the TV tuner will be a poor picture due to stretching!!
Basically I already have a large 42" Plasma, a Sony LCD and 3 other CRT Portables off the same areil feeds around the house and they all work fine. I tried 2 other LCD TV's including a Videoseven LCD/Monitor combo and even that was perfect. Basically the Samsung tuned in BBC1 and everything else was very poor, especially channel 5 and my sky channel. Suffice to say these units will be going back tomorrow! Now let me guess I wonder why Argos returned them?!!!!!!!!!!! Buy at your own peril.

Matt - How did you get BBC1 off this - It's a monitor and has no tuner built in???

Have this monitor myself from when PCWorld offered them at a crazy price last year.

The first monitor I had, the stand broke after a month (screen tilted all the way down, wouldn't move up the way - hinges in the stand had broken). It's happened to others as well, so it seems mine wasn't an isolated incident.

After paying £200 and it breaking after about 35 days, Samsung felt it appropriate to refuse to simply replace the stand (VESA, so easily removed) and instead wanted to replace my screen with a refurb - suffice to say I wasn't too happy ;)

Thankfully, PCWorld were in the mood for customer service (!) and helped me out - they phoned Samsung and after a few days of them banging their heads against idiots, replaced it with a brand new one in store.

The stand is "fine" on the new one after over 5 months, but, it shakes and makes horrible sounds whenever my desk gets even slightly nudged. Build quality of the stand is nothing like my 4 year old Hyundai downstairs.

Be prepared for a broken stand or having to be stupidly careful around your desk and when trying to tilt the screen for a better view. Apart from the stand, the specification is great (HDCP is why I bought it) and the screen is pretty good quality as well - it can go really bright (so bright it hurts my eyes), and, the screen swivels from left to right as well.

DVI and VGA cables, along with UK and EU plugs, come in the box as well :)

Doesn't sound good about the stand. Thanks for the feedback :)

I have one, the stand isn't bad at all. It is also height adjustable - not many monitors have this facility.

Guys, if I have 2 PC's - ones a laptop with an SVGA plug (analogue connector) the other is a desktop PC with a DVI port on the video card, could I use this Monitor to output from both machines. I don't mean both at the same time, I mean either 1 or the other. If so, how do you change, is it by the set-up menu?

I've got this monitor and use it for my Xbox 360. It's a good performer in my opinion.

Neil: There is a button on the front to switch between VGA and DVI. I use this to switch between my PC and Xbox. Dead easy.

If you're a member of costco you can get one for a similar price.

I do exactly the same, switching between the two when I need to. Fantastic screen at a great price, I certainly recommend it.

I just bought this monitor for my son. Can you tell me what cable he needs to play his xbox360.
Thanks

I have this monitor (bought from PC World) and highly recommend it. Had no trouble with the stand on mine so far.

As for Xbox 360 connection, he will need an Xbox 360 VGA cable. I'd recommend the official one. They are about £15

That guy Mr Tommy said that he switched between his pc and xbox so did he use 2 different leads?

Well, you definitely not alone with this 'stand problem'! My monitor suffered from broken stand last week. I contacted Samsung and they didn't want to know. So I just bought replacement stand from Scan - this one. It is very well made (much better than Samsung own one) and even more flexible.
TBH I was quite sure that my stand because kids were playing next to monitor, so I didn't even bother to ask PCWorld to replace it. Anyway, Ergotron stand is very good :)

Unusual denim curtains! Not sure about the stain on the chair either. I also promise never to moan about the state of my son's bedroom ever again. :w00t:

He would be using DVI to his PC and the VGA to the Xbox. You can then switch between inputs on the monitor.

The new model (SM206BW) was released in April 2007, that's why this item is getting cheaper now.
