yep i agree the bw and cw look very similar.....those who like the pebble will some tire of the hideous big black surround and large fisher price light

I don't have this model, I have the Samsung SM225MD 22" LCD TV with integrated digital/analogue tv and HDMI with 5ms response time (gray to gray). Recieved this today after ordering it thursday night from BT shop. I've only run this with the supplied VGA cable but it's such a stunning monitor. Could only run Call of Duty 4 at 1280x964 res, something to do with xp or nvidia gpu driver installed, otherwise looks stunning. I can highly recommend samsung monitors. Word of caution, it's a big one so make sure you have the room.

I've been considering this monitor for a while from eBuyer, and think I might go for it now. Check the reviews here.
#6
Was going to buy this from ebuyer in the next few days for £20 more so tempted by this offer, but a friend has recently had an absolute disaster with PC world as he is now on his fifth (!) replacement laptop in only 3 months or so. Never had any problems with ebuyer so maybe the extra £20 is worth the piece of mind...

Just remembered, one question: what cables does this come with in the box? VGA, DVI, etc, etc...?
#7
I wouldn't let problems with a friend's non-samsung laptop put you off buying a samsung monitor?
#8
Got this monitor from Play.com and was very dissappointed with the backlight bleeding. I watch a lot of films on my PC so it's not good for that, not sure if I got a rubbish monitor.

If backlight bleeding isn't a problem for you it's still a decent monitor.
#9
Seems like a nice find, OP. Thanks :)

With my model sm225MD i got a vga cable, it usually says either on the website in question that you are purchasing it from or if you search the samsung site for the product profile.
No dead pixels and minimal bleeding. With LCD's screens, screen bleed is always an issue though the severity depends on the quality of the panel.
#11
Some panels are reported to have backlight bleeding, and some fine, mixed reviews
#12
The does seem to be the case, not sure if it depends on where the actual LCD panels are sourced from or just variations in the batches manufactured.

This seems like a good deal but i'm also quite interested in the deal Scan have on at the moment for the Viewsonic VG2230WM. If you go onto their one day only screen they're currently selling it for £186.83. It's over £200 pretty much every where else.

It gets very good reviews and one very useful feature of it is that it's height adjustable.

I got VGA, DVI and 2 power cables.

Stand isn't nearly so hard to assemble as some others have made it sound.
I read somewhere of having to push extremely hard untill you hear a loud click, but mine went in with little force & is sitting nicely.

As for PC World.... I had the same concerns, so i only use them for products like this & my External HDD i bought a year or so ago - same probability of it breaking regardless of supplier.
I see being able to take the monitor back to a store as a benefit over ebuyer, but i wouldn't touch PC World's Computers/Laptops with a bargepole.
#15
Thanks for the info. As you say, returning to a store is much easier, I just don't want to be stuck driving back and forth to PC world every weekend as my friend is at the moment!

it's the 'dogs bollox' imo...watched 'i am legend' on it last night...popcorn, cherry tango etc...the film was not as good as i expected 7/10, but the samsung monitor is magnificent !

thats the hideous cheap nasty pebble one - seriously iu was going to buy it but needed to see it in the flesh - saw it in pcworld - ...to me it has a massive design fault as the stand is way to small and flimsy, so the whole monitor will wobble when you type (i pushed it over with little effort from my small finger)....not only that the casing feels cheap and nasty - picture is good at native resolution tho but seemed no better than the 226cw or 226bw
would advise you to look at it first

thought the film was excellent.....i liked the slow pace and character development...a bit like Alien did......but if you like gung ho action movies, such as dei hard, you might be disapointed
more of a thinking man's action movie - will smith's finest performance, tho i think the dog stole the show

Oxymoron much?

This design does suffer from the wobbles! I was going to buy one recently, but after reading others comments and seeing it wobble in PC World, I bought the Samsung 226CW instead (£25 more) , which looks just as good but is much more stable. Just something to bear in mind... Especially when playing games!

Unfortunately I got one of the ones with pretty bad bleed, a great monitor apart from that though, so if you get a good one at that price its a geat deal
#22
Just bought one of these from PC world and can also confirm that this is a great monitor for general or gaming uses.

Although the sales person ( how's that for political correctness) stated that i needed to buy a DVI cable which cost £24, let me save you the journey back to the shop......this monitor is boxed WITH VGA and DVI cables!.

So far my experience has been good, have been laying Crysis for a few hours and display has been faultless.
#23
Just to let you know, I got them to match their online price in store. The lady at the checkout told the shop floor guy that he couldn't do that but he then went off and spoke to some kind of management figure who told him he could. Saved me a trip as I was already in the store.
Oh I was also told no dvi cable was included. I purchased one which I now have to take back as the monitor does indeed include both vga and dvi cables.

Don't know why some people are whinging about this monitor. It's fab !

I've had one for about 3 months. When set up CORRECLTY, it doesn't wobble and there is no back light bleed.
banned#25
Does anyone have a dead pixel? Have seen one of these heavily reduced due to this and wondered how noticable this would be.
#26
Wobble issues only exist if you don't put the monitor on the stand properly
