Bolch can you please stop posting so many nice deals

I am trying not to spend too much .

I like this TV it looks very nice to me specially when I know that I am plugging it to a SKY box anyway so not really bother by the freeview.

Any idea how good does normal TV looks in this TV.

Do you think is wise to wait until monday so I can get the extra 2% vat off. Or they could run out of stock by then?
#3
Are there any voucher codes for Play?
#4
Cool nearly ordered the 19 inch from Argos, used the RAC discount and got a 22 inch for £161.49 plus Quidco. Cheers OP heat and rep added
#5
Snag is, they'll probably send it in a Jiffy bag. Voted hot anyway.
#6

whats the difference between a PAL tuner and a Digital DVB-T Freeview TV Tuner?
cant decide to get this one or this one
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/5447796/Samsung-20-T200-HD-Ready-Widescreen-LCD-TV-Monitor/Product.html

im going toward the 20" cos of the tuner (i think is better?), 2 HDMI's and the look of the TV, but and extra 2" and £30 better off is tempting.
#8
Darnit! I really want this now and I have no monies.

Fantastic offer, might try and convince someone this'll be a good xmas present for me :-D

I believe:

DVB-T = Freeview

PAL tuner = No freeview, just normal 1-5 channels.

If you are plugging this TV to SKY or you already have a freeview box you are probably better off with the 22'.

Cold from me. As memory serves, you can buy the standard monitor version of this for some £50 less. Analogue TV is a dying format, so you'd be better spending that £50 difference on a freeview box (preferably with a harddisk built in) with HDMI output to use in conjunction with the cheaper monitor.

Play.com is based in Jersey so you're not paying any VAT in the first place. :whistling:

Clearance-Bargains on ebay (ie: argos clearance) - got a Samsung 32inch for £ 289.99, delivery is only £ 4.99 - looks a good offer. Its HD and Freeview too :-)
#15
if i use it as a tv and connect it to a virgin media box, will i be able to receive the hd channels. more importantly in this size does it make much difference having hd or not
#16
I've have the version of this with Freeview (SM225MD) and it's a very nice screen. Plenty of inputs and outputs
#17
Analogue TV tuner is going to be useless as the Digital Switchover is happening, but nice deal nonetheless!

Hi I am really tempted with this - but am really confused about the contrast ratio thing ... sorry am a real noob !!!!

Which is better --->LG Flatron W2234s Vs Samsung SM225MW

Both 22" - a little price difference - well a lot really - nearly £70. Have just reserved the LG at TESCO for £102 and in 2 minds as I really like the Samsung connectivity - HDMI and Dvi.
The LG contrast is 5000:1 whilst the samsung is 700:1 - really confused.

Could any kind soul help me out here please ....

I am not trying to confuse you any more but you are comparing two different things the LG is a TFT monitor no tv input, this one is an LCD TV.

Mainly monitors are good if you are seating in front of them, once you start to look at them from the sides they are not as good. LCD TV's allow you to see from different angles with little difference.

Ask yourself what do you need a Monitor or a LCD TV. I rather have the LCD TV.

OMG - am I really stupid - doooohhhhh -- sorry about that thanx for really clearing that up !

Saw the word monitor and thought yeah ..... need me a monitor foremost !!! So ill stick to the TESCO deal ....

Cheers asandino .......

I bought one of these for £200 from Dixons 6 months ago, it is a great screen and the PIP option means I can watch the football and check my emails at the same time

good deal. got a little worried for a second then, i thought it was the new model (T220HD, £225 @ pixmania) i have just purchased for an xmas present. Not seen this one in the flesh, but the new one is gorgeous. although id have been pretty tempted by this model at this price

In my haste i'd not realised this was non-freeview. taints the deal for me. Better to spend the extra and get the new version if you can afford it.
#26
the T220HD is on play.com but for £199.:whistling: i think.

No its not. Either get a freeview box or use tvcatchup. Problem solved. It's also possible by then you will have upgraded/changed regardless.

It's £273.03.

there do seem to be 2 versions of the T220 HD. with and without freeview. I've seen the without for £199.00

I take it 'PAL Tuner' would cover most regions, i.e PAL-I PAL-B etc ? then it will work abroad.
#31
I Brought this screen around 3 months ago for £279, this is a quality tv. I have got it linked up to my pc and xbox, its works brilliantly with both. This is an amazing price

Careful with these smaller samsungs, had 5 940MW (19") die on me within 15 months - 4 of which were backlight issues, 1 was where it kept swapping between widescreen and 4:3 on component

thats bad luck

all 4 of my sammy tft 3x 940mw (may 2006 on 2 of them and 2007 on the other) and 1 x 932mw still work without the issue you describe.

Actually 2x 940mw still work as my son broke 1 by losing his temper and twatting screen with 360 controller

True for items below £18 being sold from Jersey, but VAT is added for items above £18 so with the monitor you will be paying VAT, I don't think companies will adjust there prices along with a VAT drop and if they did it would be for marketing reasons.

I dont see how this is a good deal imho

Last year i bought a 22" samsung syncmaster with better specification (2ms response time etc) for £160

And that minitor was at that price for months, why did they go up so much?
