I have been looking for a new 22" monitor over the past weeks and decided to go for the new Samsung range. I tried the 226bw and the 2232bw from Ebuyer, both have now gone back due to annoying dead/stuck pixels and terrible backlight issues (im sure i had the inferior panels). Anyway i noticed that Samsung had release the 226cw which is supposed to be a better and more quality guaranteed panel compared to the bw panel lottery (Wide Colour Gamut), unfortunately they charge that much extra for the privilage.

Suprisingly i found that PCWorld were the cheapest for this using the 5% code YAWN07 to bring it down to £242.44 delivered. Yeah i know its PCWorld so please dont comment on terrible service - you can always use DSRegs if you have a problem within the first 14days if need be. Oh and dont forget Samsung monitors all carry a 3 year on site warranty for extra piece of mind ;-)

Other prices for this model include Ebuyer £264.63 and Amazon a whopping £298.59 !

Heated it up for you as this is the cheapest that I could find this quality display. Expensive compared to some other panels, for sure, but as you say it is a better unit.

Shame it's not as pretty as the pebble, though.

Sadly at present you get what you pay for, the lcd monitor TV market is not the same as the monitor market, monitors can be picked up cheap come with great warranty and build quailty the opposite is true of TV/monitors. Hence damn hot, £20 less would have have made it steal of the week :-) But I'll bet good money that the TV/Monitors will drop big time after xmas and so will monitors as more are brought out with hdmi. But got to get one for my lad, thx for the post and info :-) Probably will get this one, and hook up an external freeview and then I can stop looking at tv/monitors and go with a plain ole trustworth screen only :-)

PS yep the pebbles look nice :-)

Great specs on the one above though

* With Wide Colour Gamut
* 2msec Response Rate
* 300cd/m2 Brightness
* 3000:1 Contrast Ratio

Much as above, heat added - obviously the silent cold voters didn't realise it is a premium model.

agreed. having tried a 22" samsung and taken it back, i'm waiting to get a 24" with a decent resolution... after being used to my dell 22" CRT, the pixels looked a bit big on those 22" ones!

TBH i have got the pebble here as i post and its a bit of a flimsy unit. Its got a better panel than the 226BW and seems less grainy, but it wobbles about all over the place, does not rotate on the base, and generally looks a lot more plasticy and cheap than in the pictures. After taking stock of the pebble i feel that the 226BW/CW have more of a 'monitor' feel to them rather than a TV copy. Will await my superior CW in the next few days and let you know what its like ;-)

Ps i just noticed how cold this is hahaha ROFL... if anyone can find this monitor cheaper then please say. This is the best reviewed and highest spec Samsung 22 on the market atm. Yeah i know that monitor prices will drop, so does everything pc related. But lets vote on the here and now eh you plums :-D

PPS can any1 explain the wide gamut in lamens terms lol ?

I have the SM225MW for £250 and I'm impressed with it, this monitor looks like it should be even better, voted hot.

Got this monitor today and i thought id update. This monitor is soooo much better than the previous SM226BW and the 22" pebble i had from ebuyer. The colours seem much more responsive and weyhey im glad to say that there are no dead pixels and so far there have been no stuck ones either. The panel looks a little sharper than the BW version before, whether or not i had an iffy panel on it i dont know, all i can say is that for the extra £30 the Samsung guaranteed panel looks pretty much spot on and better imo.

If any1 likes the look of this model then i can recommend it - go for it !!
