Still double the price of the Orvibo starter kit, which has more open-source potential than Samsung's walled garden.

Doesn't the smart things use ZigBee and Z-Wave, whereas Orvibo WiFi and ZigBee, can't see why one is better than the other really, potential is a strong word, since so many companies have come and gone in the home automation world, it's rather optimistic to worry about future potential, it's what the system does now that's important, or at least the ability to control without the hub device, because if the company goes pop or pulls out of the market place, it's the hub that's going to need replacing with a computer or alternative hub.

Perhaps the biggest problem seems the requirement of both systems to use a mobile phone to set it up, it really is splitting hairs sating Orvibo is more open than Smart Things, when neither is truly open and you're reliant on a community of hackers to get them working outside their own little ecosystem.
