does this drive include 3Yr Warranty or not... there is no info on ebuyer...
#10
might have to get me one of these!

what's so good about this drive? :?

My brother bought one of these from Aria the other week - Aria's delivery charge goes up to about £8 when you proceed through checkout, so it cost him ~ £60 delivered, not £56.28.

id rather get it from scan on today only £56.34 and get it free next day, none of this waiting 5-7 days for ebuyer free delivery

i know some people get theres next day from ebuyer on free delivery, i never have.

ebuyer price £55.43 now

Ordered one of these from Scan yesterday. Personally I would pay the extra £1.35 to get from scan rather than Ebuyer (irrespective of eScan). They have better customer service and faster shipping in my experience.

These drives have 2x500GB platters as opposed to the usual 3x333Gb in most 1TB drives. They are supposed to be faster than the F1, which was very fast. Though there are virtually no reviews of the drive at the moment. It's not even on Samsung's website !!

Hot!

I was wondering about Scan with free del, too. Scan price is good if you need it quickly, but if you're happy to wait then Ebuyer it is

I think if you're buying one on impulse or you have been waiting for a good deal like this to come up then you're probabaly not in a huge hurry for it. Longest I've had to wait for an Ebuyer free del is 4 days, with 3 days being the most common and 1 or 2 days not being unusual (I build, repair and upgrade PCs so order a lot!).

This is the fastest performing 7200rpm drive currently available. Samsung drives have aways been super reliable for me so HOT.

Not so reliable for me - the F1's and F2's both failed on me within 1 year. Now on WD drives.
#21
Usually get ebuyer deliveries the next day actually so definitely hot.
I have never really had any issues with Samsung drives and they have been solid enough for me and I have used a fair few. Seagate has let me down a few times of late. Now testing WD drives and so far so good.
Still definitely a hot deal and would be tempted myself if I didnt get free scan delivery.

Would this drive show up in Vista/Win7 as the whole 1TB or would it need to partitioned as 2 x 500GB? Also, if anyone has ordered do you know it if comes with SATA Data + Power Leads + Fixing Screws?

Tempted as have Win7 on order & stupid VIsta won't let me create a partition on my existing 320GB Drive beyond 7GB (even after defrag etc. with PerfectDisk) .... :x

Agreed, happy owner WD caviar black x2 in raid 0 stripe here :-D

great price however i do think its well worth getting it from scan as for the extra ~£1.50 you get it delivered guaranteed next day. still hot though!
#26
Ordered as well.
#27
might grab one of these to replace 2x500gb in my pc now.

hmmm!!!

Balb0wa - my 2 x F1's in RAID 0 have a shorter access time than the standard F3, shouldn't it be the other way around? I just did a test and got 11.6ms, but I'm sure I've run it and it's been down close to 7 or 8 before.
The spec for the F3 says it should be 8.9ms.
#29
Ordered mine from Scan yesterday at 2pm and it came today at 7am.

Just installed it and to start with it seemed realy noisy. Are there any utilities I can use to quieten it down at all?

What are the best downlods for checking your hard drive? Didn't see any mention of escan at all though and I was also charged £57.95 (free del as I am an AV Forums member)

Thanks, no reason not to buy it now I guess; can pick up a cheap SATA Cable from Amazon iirc for £2ish delivered :)

I also had 2 of the F1 drives fail on me. The only hard drives that have ever failed and I go through quite a few 2.5" and 3.5" drives. Also this isn't the fastest drive around, this Seagate is although no availability yet in the UK:

Personally speaking, a better deal for same drive on Scan Today only today, although overall discount was better yesterday.

1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.9 ms, NCQ, OEM + 100cm Akasa AK-CB054 SATA II cable with Latch connector - Silver Clear Cable - £56.34 (inc VAT)

Well seagate would argue that the fastest current consumer 1tb hard disk is the Barracuda 7200.12. The XT will be good when it's available, but for most dont expect miracles, it's essentially 2 1tb 7200.12 in one case so not actually a 6Gb/s SATA interface but a twin 3Gb/s SATA interface. But performance and storage all in one should be good.

Not sure if this is what you're after: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/Support_HUTIL.html

Price difference and eScan offer is possibly due to being on Today only offer and not the same as when you ordered it?

Cheekster.

According to reviews and benchmarks I have seen (Googled), the Samsung F3 outperforms the Seagate 7200.12's by a small margin in both read and write tests. I also think it is the old Seagate 7200.11's (not the old Sammy F1's) which have well publisised high failure rates.

Both the 7200.12 and F3 drives have 500GB platters plus 7,200rpm, which makes them pretty fast.
