If you're looking for a high-capacity drive that will fit in a notebook or games console there's less and less choice as you go up in capacity. At the top of the scale is this tiny monster, which crams 2TB of storage into a drive just 9.5mm high!

NOTE: if you Google a bit, you'll find that this drive is known to work with the PS4 as long as the system is updated to version 1.7 or higher. Comments on Amazon indicate it works on the PS3 too. It may on Xbox - please do your own research.

A lot of newer laptops take 7mm drives so anyone buying to upgrade a laptop should check their laptop first.

Or buy this from Argos for £69.99 and take it out the enclosure

Its the same drive inside and fits a PS4

Unless it's a different version, I have a feeling that the Samsung M9T is the same drive found inside these seagate external drives.

Here's a video of someone disassembling it.

It's currently £75 which is cheaper but they've been as low as £55 in the past.

Edit: or £5 cheaper again in Argos as noted in the previous comment.

That's what I did.
Very easy to do, plus you have a case to put your 500gb hard drive in.

Yes if you don't want the warranty.

This is a must buy for any ps4 owner. It's a lot faster and quieter than the original ps4 drive and 4 times the storage

Got one inside my PS4. Thought I would do it sooner rather than later as PS+ content was filling up my 500GB already.

you will void the warranty if you open an external drive
#12
with current portable drive prices this is pretty decent
wanted one but just cant face spending 70 when they were 55!
#13
Better of buy the external one at Argos or Amazon next time around

I used to buy from CCL around 15 years ago when I used to live in Leeds and visited their showroom. Thankfully, saw the light. Horrible company - would try to avoid them if at all possible. Things may have changed but not from what I've heard.

Yep, did this literally weeks after getting a PS4. Always makes me chuckle seeing these M9Ts going for 80 odd quid and it being regarded as cheap!?

Not if you're careful when opening the case ;)

Yes if you don't want the warranty.

Why wouldn't you have a warranty? If it breaks, just put it back in the enclosure.

How easy is it to replace the drive in a PS4? So you need another drive to hold the data before you copy it across?

Pretty easy: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5107/~/upgrade-ps4-hdd

Games you'll have to re-download. Before you do the swap, either copy your saves to a USB stick, or to online storage, then copy them back afterwards.

I think this is the same drive at Currys for £59.99.

Depends if you mark the casing getting it open. I thought as well there was some silver foil shielding you needed to remove to make use of the drive but can't be 100% sure.

just a heads up, i bought this drive, took it out of enclosure and put it in my laptop. no luck. wont work. as a secondary hard drive windows doesnt see it even though its in the bios, and on the second time i reboot windows wont load and insists on repairing volume, after 5 hours it was only at 7%. tried in another laptop just as reguar main hdd and still no luck. looked and looked for solutions from formating to diskpart clean /clean all commands and no joy. however once i plug it back to the usb inerface, it works just fine
