I got one of these a month ago and so far I'm really happy with it. I have it set up with the WD TV Live. It is a solid build and runs cool. The only slightly distracting thing is the flashing white light on the front, but other than that I would recommend. And for this price you cant really go wrong!

This hard-drive is great. Good deal!

just got one last week for £90 grrr. happy so far although it took 9 hours for me to copy 660gb from an internal sata2 7200rpm drive to this. as already pointed out the light is annoying on the underside, but you can block it out with some tape.
#5
The spindown with this gets really annoying. If you leave the drive for 5 minutes inactive, there is a delay when restarting it. annoying whilst resuming music or movies. But otherwise great drive.

can this be stood sidewards?

thats because its an eco drive inside aka a samsung f2. will save the drive a lot of wear and tear. if you want instant speed u should have gone for a 7200rpm esata drive.

no.

very good drive, got this from amazon last year for £85 when it was just released, but price has stayed around the same ever since, was hoping more retailers would stock it and bring prices down a bit. As already mentioned quirks of the drive, dimmable light at the front, and spin down of the drive after inactivity saves wear & tear etc, but it's quite a well built external hdd.

btw both £5 vouchers, PLANW10 and PLARBS10, tried both on a Laptop yesterday but both didn't work (saying voucher can't be used with certain products), afaik laptops are in the Computing category and so is this external hdd?

Would have hoped for under £80 for a 1.5tb drive.
Similar £ per gb deal compared to the Seagate 1tb at Tesco.
Don't forget cashback.

f**kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk I bought this on friday from ebuyer for £95 to be delivered today
#12
Probably one of the ugliest drives out there. Would have looked a lot better with Samsung on the front. Story looks like some cheap no name make.
Good price though for 1.5tb.
Heat.

You have a 10 day no quibble money back guarantee with Ebuyer, you just have to pay the return postage. Might be worth it for the difference.

So should I go for this or the Iomega which is supposed to have the Samsung F3 drive inside?

Also Iomega comes with 3 year warranty.

Codes not working for me :(
#16
I've got one of these and have had it stood on it's side for 4 months+. No problems at all.

The power down does kick in quite quickly, but it only takes a few seconds to spin back up.

Good drive IMO.
#17
Good drive but if the voucher is not working its not really a deal. Know anyone selling the Esata version of this?
#18
Argos are charging £119.99 for this drive. Hard to believe everyone used to go to Argos for the bargains.
#19
Does the voucher definitely work for this? I know it doesn't work in the "electronics" category.

I've had one running for about 6 months, i did have a DOA though, faulty PSU. The only option they gave me was to send it back for a full replacement, not repair. Any data on it is lost.

Other than that, solid little drive, neat stackable design, very quiet and power efficient. I will buy a second one to back up the first one.

Also uses standard micro-USB cables which i think are much better than printer style A-B USB cables. And everyone has spares.

Price has budged just £5 in 6 months though, i expected a bigger drop

Still showing as £89.99.

OP said to use the £5 discount voucher to get it to £84.99

This happened last time to me, they issued two codes for a £5.00 saving, both codes were rejected so I bought elsewhere.

+1 - I have two of these (purchased last year from Amazon UK) and they are great little runners plus the case is quite solid for them as well.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Thanks for posting the deal but I cant get the codes to work either.
Its weird but the fiver makes the difference to me. Ill happily pay 85 quid for something I dont need but not 90 quid! Ahhhh .... my irrational deal seeking mind.

I agree this is worth exactly £85 but not 90!, strange.
