Came across the price reduction just now whilst browsing at Amazon UK - it's a very decent external hard disk (I have three of them myself) and the power knob at the front of the unit is great for power management (you can switch off rather than having to pull out the power cable as with the bulk of external 3.5" hard drives out there).

Previous posted deal received heat of 494 degrees (see link on first post).

Agree it is an alternative to consider but my personal preference is the Samsung model as I've gone through several WD external hard disks (2.5" & 3.5" models) previously - thus far, knock on wood, the three Samsung ones I have are still alive & kicking.

based upon what i've read and heard in terms of reliability, i would pay the extra for the Samsung - though I have no first-hand experience.

Pass on that one - Amazon UK will have to be contacted to confirm the warranty coverage.

I'll message them tomorrow if I get time or if possible another member can do it. :)

Ebuyer has a CORE 1.5TB on offer:

Your text here

It costs £62 but it supports USB 3.0 and has free encyption software
#10
If you want free encryption software, try TrueCrypt.

As for the StoryStation, I have one, and am seriously considering buying another. Very good value at that price.
#11
It is a three year warranty....although given Samsung recently annouced it had sold its HDD business to Seagate in three years time they might not necesarily replace it with the same, but like for like I would expect...
#12
got one of these when they first came out, paid £90 for it...... just ordered a second! heads up to the OP, thnx!

Box.co.uk selling 2TB for £69.99. 2TB works out cheaper :)

Just watch the ebuyer link, they should bring it down for price-matching, it was £69.99 a few days ago, then they put it up to £94 oO
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/196400

EDIT: OP, also got 3x 1.5TB myself, great drives. highly recommend 8)

I was considering this drive when it was £59.99, Good to hear some good reviews. I recently sold my old 500gb Maxtor to my dad so this might be a useful buy but do i need it .... Mmmmm

Heat added 8)

Agree - I have all three of mine encrypted using TrueCrypt; it's handy because IF it has a physical fault (and is still covered by the warranty) it would be difficult for anybody to access the data.

If you can afford it and have a need for external storage then you should buy it! ;)
#21
Wow how annoying is that! I literally only received mine last week when I got it for £60.

So far so good. Very decent speeds. Good product finish and quite light.

If you purchased it from Amazon UK, you should contact their customer support team to see about getting a £5.00p refund as it's been done before with regards to recent price changes - just a thought.
#23
The deal has expired as Amazon UK are out of stock and it's only the market resellers that still have them but are asking for more in terms of price (£60.00p+).
