Got one. Currently using alongside WDTV live. Blinding piece of kit. Get one! HOT

Best quality external drive I've ever used. Very heavy and well made piece of kit. I highly recommend getting one.

Also, don't bother with any of the software it comes loaded with. Just wipe the drive when you get it.

Just had the 1Tb of this WD drive fail on me after 3 months. Not impressed, especially for a WD product.

Ive had WD for many years and it runs well and never failed. All hard drives need care!

I agree. If you read the reviews of the Elements drives, they can be a bit of a lottery. Also, just this week bought a WD 2TB Mybook USB 3.0 external to backup some data, dead straight out of the box. I've got a feeling WD are heading the way of Maxtor for reliability?

Fan noise?? I have the story station and the Wd .. the Story Station does not have a fan and hence sounds the same as the WD.
Personally i prefer the WD, as it doesn't have an on/off button on the front (laziness on my behalf) and the white light is at the back of the WD not the front like on the Story Station. (What is it with white leds? almost as ugly as blue ones)

Great bit of kit - I have two of them and they are great runners! 8)

Cheers OP, ordered one :)

I'd pay a few pounds more for this over the Amazon WD, I've got both and prefer the retro look of the Samsung. i can confirm that it doesn't make fan noises, its very solid, great for home use, not so good to carry around.

haha, u can solder an orange led if u like lol

yes the WD had no on/off switch, instead it'll auto sleep and wakes within seconds.

Oh well both good cuz no fans.
I'd rather have WD because of the compact size and auto sleep.
Looks nice when u stack them up too(if u buy a few :p)

I could.. but i just got a red felt pen and coloured it in - much easier :-)

Just wanted to say the Story has no fans so there is no fan noise. And yes there is a manual switch on the front but it will also auto sleep the same as the WD if left on and inactive.

Personally I prefer to have the manual switch. I've had problems in the past with both Seagate and WD drives randomly switching themselves on/off and causing problems. I think it's better (and safer for your data) to have the option of completely isolating these external drives when not in use.

This one or the WD drive also posted?? im unsure?

This one.

IMO this is far better than the WD one. Far quicker for transfering data.
#23
Hot from me, paid £90 for this in January of last year.
#24
Still showing at this price if people are still interested in purchasing.
