If anyone had a spare £5 off code from mcdonalds monopoly promotion they'd be willing to donate to me, i'd go for this!

Really? I find Samsungs to have the lowest failure rates of all HDs I have used.
What are you basing your comment on?

I've got three of these and find them most reliable (so far at least, I've had the 1.5tb for around 18months).

+1 - I have 3 x 1.5TB Samsung Story Station and they've been working really well since purchased over the last twelve plus months.

On the basis that the company i work for's returns dept has a fair few, most suffer what i would call the click of death (heads are jammed) some returned doa out the box, even our tech dept has fallen fowl ,we have at least 2 of our own that have failed , also the power management has been a headache , they power down when not in use but will not power back up unless unplugged from the mains.

Unsual yes as most of my drives a sammy's but for some reason these storystations don't seem to clever

why do people have 3 of these, or any 2tb drive? is that the magic number?

i want one, but what is so great about them, and how many films can you get on one?

Well personally I have 3 x 1.5TB Samsung Story Station external hard disks and it's down to the volume of data I have but also one of them is offsite (kept at my parents) for redundancy - I swap them out every month, dependent upon if I get a chance to get back home.

I've found them to be quite reliable so far, knock on wood.
