I think Ebuyer should be banned from HotUKdeals.

And at the very least, We, the syncmaster scorned, should create a fraternity whose sole purpose is to ensure any ebuyer deal is kept colder than the depths of the coldest cave on Pluto! Let us ride my bretheren!

Here you go guys... image of the original, in stock item on ebuyer's site:

... and image of the item now being sold by ebuyer on their eBay listings for good measure, as it's apparently back in stock!

Threads like this make me realise just how most people don't understand … Threads like this make me realise just how most people don't understand how retail works. Rule number 1: Retailers don't have to sell anything to you.Considering this rule, everyone’s complaint is pretty much null and void. To me it looks like a pricing error, in which case (obviously) ebuyer aren't going to sell for below the margin they need to make on it - and thus they cancelled orders and removed it from the website. For people bandying about the term 'contract'; contract generally forms on receipt of goods / payment taken (which actually is when it appears on your bill, not just when your available balance goes down).Obviously they're going to then sell them at a price that they can make money on, and of course it's not 'against the law' to then do this - why on earth would it be?

    1) It was not a pricing error. This was listed under a special Easter holiday sale deal. There were three other monitor deals on too, two samsungs and one acer. They all had "save £xxx" mark on them too which you won't find when a product is mispriced, they were being advertised on the sale price they were listed on.

    2) Pretty much everyone who ordered this had their payment taken and the transaction was complete, it was just a matter of ebuyer dispatching the goods for delivery.

So there is much more to this then a simple misprice, thats why everyone who had their order cancelled are not happy.

I decided 21.5” is too small for my parents’ eyes so went for the 23” which is £97.22 - Samsung BX2335.
It’s DVI + VGA rather than dual HDMI & VGA but not an issue for parents; they don’t have a PS3.

I'm stuck between the Samsung and the Acer any ideas people?

I think it's all down to your brand preference and whether you'd prefer an LED or LCD screen. I think they both offer similar performance.

Assuming that you meant the Acer 23inch LCD, for a start, it's about 7quid more expensive but you have about an inch bigger screen compared to the Samsung. It's heavier and uses more power to run.

Samsung on the other hand, is 7quid cheaper, lighter, slimmer, LED tech, and it looks better imho.

As such, if an inch smaller is not an issue for you (not for me because if I want a big screen, I'd get a proper lcd tv but this one is meant for pc/some ps3 gaming), then I think I'd be swayed towards the Samsung for value.

In the event that you'd like to sell your monitor, it should be fairly easy for you to recoup at least 80% of the cost with Samsung brand + LED + HDMI. The price can't go much lower than this.

So I'd put my money on the Samsung LED (which I did already :P )

    Good luck.

Sorry but it's a monitor. Being "certified" for a certain operating system is NOT a selling point or a feature.

I am real tempted by these two deals (the 21.5 and the 23 inch Samsungs), any advantage/disadvantage to the 23" other than size?

    I wouldn't mount unless I had atleast a 32" TV.

Mount a 32" in a office at your desk ? Man your eyes would be shot in a week..lol

Oh and the worst thing is they already taken the payment despite saying dispatch date was 3rd of May, so another wait to have money back in the account.

btw what happened to the other two samsung deals? cant find the threads

edit: found them, looks like they've been cancelled too! what a joke!

So basically they've managed to take out a short-term loan interest free (3-5 days) from all of us as a result of their mistake. This is unacceptable.

    Great price.

"From the samsung site appears to have a 3 year warranty"
    Where does it say that?
I just looked and most monitors seem to have a 2 year pick and swap warranty - Samsung.

I was going to order 2 for my parents but would prefer a proper monitor warranty.

Samsung make quality TFT monitors. Had a 15" SyncMaster a decade and its still vivid.
    Total bargain.

Hot, really good price considering it's LED backlit, DVI and Sammy. I'm tempted on this, some bloody good offers today!

incredible price for an LED monitor that can do 1080p. Just 18w too!
  16. hugekebab's avatar
Anyone got any idea if its the reflective type screen or the matte type?
  17. deleted65393's avatar
They have an Acer 23” (not LED) with DVI/HDMI/VGA for £90.26 – Acer H235Hbmid.
  18. deleted69420's avatar
This is very tempting, I can't decide whether to go for LED or a bigger screen!

Just ordered one to replace my 4-5 year old 19" Acer that I paid around £190 for. Thank you OP and heat added!!!

By the way, I want to connect my PC and PS3 via HDMI on this monitor but unsure about how to get sound through PS3 since there is no built in speakers on it. Can I use my PC speakers and will I need any additional cables?

Going for the £90 one posted on this site. Before I go ahead, is it one of the best 23" £90 monitors I can get (for gaming on my xbox 360)? Cheers!

I had noticed that it's 18W versus 26W. I think they'd rather pay the extra couple of quid per year running costs and saves their eyes.

According to sust-it.net/ene…y=1 the 23" monitor will cost you about £2 more a year to run on avarage than the 21.5" monitor.

Been looking around but I can't seem to find if this supports HDCP - which probably means it does not

Also, no VESA holes for wall mounting?

Anyone know how this compares with the acer s221h (apart from no hdmi on that) posted a few days ago?
