I think it's worth mentioning the 10% Quidco in the title so no one misses that bit, I did and was going to post it. I know it's not guaranteed but it does amount to £22.99.

Sorry, cold. I bought an LG from play with much better spec about 6 months ago for £220, you can get it from ebuyer now for £217 I think, I forgot the name of it but it also had DVI, 5ms response time but it had a 3000:1 contrast ratio, if you haven't already bought this go for the LG, it also comes with a 3 year warrenty,

Has this got freeview?

Yep, looks like it. On the item page it doesn't mention it but in this model is the SM225MD (digital tuner), as opposed to the SM225MW one they sell that has an analogue tuner.

I got this monitor after doing a good bit of research including reading Spanish and French forums where there are a lot more threads about this monitor. I've had it for a couple months now and am very happy with it even though it cost me £275 at the time. If there had been a 24" model available with scart I would have considered it, but at the time there wasn't (not sure if there is now). Two things to watch out for with this monitor:

1. Some people complained of a high pitched wine, probably from the psu (I think there may be other Samsung TVs with this problem).
2. Deal breaker for some was that PIP only worked for the analogue inputs and not Freeview. Doesn't affect me as I watch Sky over scart and it looks great on this monitor, as does the PS3 over hdmi.

I'm voting hot as I'm very happy with mine, so at this price I think its good value.

The LG that yos2008 refers too might be the M228WD. You can read a review at:

How do you know that your LG Monitor is better than this Samsung? Have you owned both? Does your LG have an HDMI port? Freeview built-in? Supports 1080p input? Picture In Picture feature? Does it look better than the Samsung's Piano Black Finish?

Btw Ebuyer sell the exact same model for £274.97 Click Here and Argos sell it for £319.99 Click Here So this is definitely a Hot Deal.

700:1 contrast ratio is pretty shocking!

On Samsungs UK web site, they quote the Contrast Ratio as been 1,000:1. For what it's worth, on my own monitor I have contrast set to 60 (on a scale of 1 to 100).

I have the SM225MW, and really like it, the main difference seems to be that the MD has Freeview built in, so have to vote hot.

I have this model also, excellent monitor. I have it conected to my PC and PS3, the image quality is super crisp and clear.

On the Spanish forum where I read up about this monitor, a few of the posters had the opportunity to compare the MW and the MD models side by side and were adamant that the MD was the better panel. One of them had the MW for a week and then brought it back and got the MD version. Whilst I can't confirm such a difference myself, the specs for these monitors do suggest that the panels are not the same.
