Use code PAYG1 to obtain 10% discount on £90 handset. No need to pay extra £10 for top up.

Quidco £5 off makes this £76

Edit;- Will most likely be locked to VF (£19.99 to unlock via them). Can also be used with Asda Sim though.

Yes probably. But still may be useful to those who want to (i) buy, top up and unlock with VF or (ii) buy and unlock elsewhere.

Which means it should work with Asda payg sims, which for many is the cheapest PAYG around! :-)

Quoted from Vodafone Forum;-

Except for the BlackBerry Storm, we will supply a Network Unlock Code (NUC) for you if you've bought a phone from us on either pay monthly or pay as you go. A NUC allows you to use non-Vodafone SIM cards with your Vodafone phone.

If the phone is on pay as you go and over 12 months old the code will also be free of charge.
For pay as you go phones less than 12 months old a charge of £19.99 including VAT applies. The £19.99 will need to be credited to your phone before you apply for the code. Once the NUC has been issued the charge will be debited.

To get a NUC code you need to contact your customer services team.

I hope that this helps

Just purchased a SE C510 from Carphone and that was locked to Voda, works fine with my Asda Sim though. But I am changing to the new Tesco Sim which matches the Asda Sim prices and you get clubcard points.

[FONT=Verdana]Note that via TopCashBack it's £5.00p cashback as well, if members are using that rather than Quidco.

Does that mean that if I buy a new Vodafone phone from Play.com and stick a contract sim or PAYG sim in it that's over 12 months old that they'll give me a free unlock code?

I just bought this phone (with the PAYG1 code) and it was delivered the next day. Would like to confirm that it is locked (and even worse branded) to Vodafone. The samsung unlock codes that have been posted on this site (and others) before do not work, neither does my unlock SIM, so i had to fork out a further 9quid to get the proper network Voda code. I bought it cause i gave my Cookie to my son and they're pretty much the same, except i haven't found a way of locking the widgets (which the cookie does) therefore everytime you drag you finger (say to change a screen) you end up moving the widget. Not too bad for the price but be aware that e2save are selling these (admittedly on clearance) for 69plus 10 pounds Voda time (http://www.e2save.com/payg-phone/Samsung+S5230+Tocco+Lite+Clearance/4/S5230TLCL)..

[FONT=Verdana]The catch with E2Save is whether the mobile phone will come with all of the accessories, as clearance stock is generally sent out with only the phone, battery, charger and if your lucky some documentation.

Unfortunately there's also the carry on with most credit card companies blocking your credit card, as E2Save is a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse...not good.

On the topic of unlocking this is what I found online:

If you want to unlock your phone put a sim from another company then type *#9998*3323# it will reset your phone. Push exit and then push 7, it will reset again. Put your other sim in and it will say sim lock, type in 00000000 then it should be unlocked. Type in *0141# then the green call batton and it's unlocked to all networks. This code may not work on the older phones and some of the newer phones. If it doesn't work you will have to reset your phone without a sim in it by typing *#2767*2878# or *#9998*3855#

Someone try it out and see if it works
