The Samsung U600 mobile phone is the new arrival to the Ultra Edition II range of Samsung mobile phones, a worthy successor to the highly popular Samsung D900.
Elegant looks and a slim 10.9mm profile are its most obvious attributes, however the U600 is also a highly specified phone. A 2.2 240x320 pixel display does full justice to pictures captured by the 3.2 megapixel camera and a micro SD memory card slot allows the 60MB internal memory to be further expanded, providing plenty of space for images and music.
A web browser, email client, quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE plus assorted messaging enhancements contribute further to the Samsung U600s impressive appeal.

* Enjoy the elegant looks and slim slide-open design

* Capture high-quality images with the 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

* Have fun recording and playing videos

* The large colour display makes viewing websites and multimedia a pleasure

* Take your tunes anywhere with the integrated MP3 player

I had this phone on a 12 month contract which ended 18 months ago, never had any problems whatsoever. Gave it to my brother-in-law when I upgraded & its still going strong.
Bargain at this price:thumbsup:

My daughter had this phone. Good phone until it broke, just before the years contract was up. Firstly the on/off switch fell off then she could hear people but they could not hear her. Sent it back and they sent it back to me saying that she had drooped it. Therefore the repair was chargeable, £45. When I opened the package I found the screen not working either. One for the bin I'm afraid.:x

Yes. If you've got a friend on Vodafone contract or has been on Vodafone PAYG for 12 months get them to put their sim card in it and call Vodafone customer services and they'll give you a free unlock code.

just brought the pink version for my daughter for xmas = great find thanks

I also owned this phone , after 3 repairs under warranty the last time it was returned they refused to repair under warranty as they claimed that it had been dropped .... NO WAY ! , it was always kept in a leather case and was never mistreated or dropped EVER.

Wost phone I ever owned and for that reason together with them conning me out of a repair I would never buy a Samsung phone again.

Price is great but unfortunately the phone is a pile of carp imo , good luck if you are buying one (you'll probably need it)
#21
I don't think I've ever seen a deal for a phone on this forum were people haven't complained about faults developing and having to send them back. Even if this phone is slightly flimsier than most surely, if you're on Vodafone PAYG, for the sake of £29 you can afford to throw it away. You'd certainly be hard pushed to find one with better features for a price as low as this.
#22
I've had one of these for coming upto 2 years now. I've had no problems and was happy enought to flog the phone I got with my current contract. However the battery is starting to show its age so when this deal is up I'll be sending it to mobile heaven. I think I might buy a new one to use with the new contract as the phones on the free line rental deals seem pretty rubbish!

I had this phone, on contract, through Vodafone. It had the worst reception strength of any phone i've ever owned (and i've had a few). Where others on the same network were able to make and receive calls, mine simply stuck on emergency calls only all the time. It seemed to have a very long 'poll' time too - if i lost a signal it took the phone a good 20 mins to get it back again (or a reset). I did read somewhere that the bad reception was an inherent fault in the phone - i'll try to dig up a link. I now have a Nokia 6300 (still on Voda) which gets a signal everywhere the Samsung didn't! Such a great little phone!

The moral of this story, only buy if you are in a strong signal area for your network.

I had one of these phones on contract. The good thing is that it comes with a 2 year warranty. The bad thing is you'll need it. Mine went back three times, for pretty much the same thing - flaky display. Did weird things like the display became mirrored and upside down, the display sometimes went off altogether and so on. Repairs were done FOC, but they had it for about 2-3 weeks each time so I needed to dig out an old phone. Decent phone when it works, but I don't think I'd buy another, even at this rpice.

I've had this phone 2 years and heres my review:

Good:

*Looks stunning (I have silver one)
*Texting with predictive text turned off is very good

Bad:

*Camera quality is poor for a 3.2 mp
*Takes 4 seconds to take photo after pressing button, it's unbearable
*Video recording is quite good
*Incredibly slow at accessing memory card (4 seconds to open foders)
*Battery life is not good
*Headphones that come with it are crap (voice quality rubbish, mine broke after a few months)
Like Muffy said above, phone does weird things (mine crashes after playing some videos/restarts by itself

Better trying this , thin sim size chip that fits under your sim card , it fools the SIM into thinking the phone is unlocked.
Was posted here 5-6 weeks ago , in the mobile archive section . Currently £3.93 US dollars , i have one , works in both my phones which are locked to different networks .:whistling:

I have had this a couple of months but already want to trade it in (after having my last phone for over 2 years...)

The touch screen is over sensitive which makes it really easy to cancel a text message or other function half way through, by accident.

The battery life is poor, even after turning down the display lighting etc , and it gives very little warning that the battery is low so I keep getting caught out

You can adjust the touch sensitivity in the phone settings

Those codes don't work on U600's
#32
A good price, a decent phone when it is ok, and definitely a good-looking gadget, but this handset definitely has multiple issues, so don't lose your paperwork! As well as all mentioned above (screen, battery life etc), menus are slow to react, and on some of them the 'touch-sensitive' buttons are hard to press. Various family members all had this same handset on contract, and they varied from 'bearable' to 'binnable'.

Also, looking at other U600 deals that have been listed, the handset might still go cheaper yet in time.

I would say ok to buy if you are comfortable with unlocking it yourself, flashing it, and maybe can pass the £10 credit onto a vodaphone friend.

I prefer the predecessor phone D900i which in daily use has it all over this handset, and is indeed rated an all time classic. Being an urbanite, I'd rather keep an eye out for a good used D900 or D900 for a tenner or so than have to cross my fingers over a U600.

Links are to very good independent mobile phone review website. Very good insight, but remember that childrens/teen phones tend to be reviewed by their users!

I just bought 2 of these phones. I don't know the code to check if they are unlocked but I've tried several different sims (orange, t mobile, 3 hong kong) and it works with all of them. I guess this phone comes unlocked.

Heat added and just placed an order for the 3rd phone :-)
#34
Had the phone delivered seems real bargain for the price. The phone comes unlocked I put my orange sim in it straight away. Phone was delivered on monday after being ordered Friday night.

Cheers OP

If they're coming unlocked they'll be simfree,no network software on them

In the unlikey event of them having network branded software its easily changed

No voda software on them.

I live in a rural place and have noticed that this phone is worse than my old nokia 6610 for getting signal. The nokia was superb. Where I could make a call on the nokia this phone drops the calls. When I go into town it is fine however.
