Just seen this and thought it was a decent price. For people who say just buy an Xbox One S, its a fair point that it does UHD Blu Ray's but it cant do HD Audio or Atmos/DTS:X which makes it no good for movies for me. Tempted at this price for a dedicated UHD Blu-Ray player.

I believe this also comes with 3 UHD Blu-Rays - The Martian, The Revenant and Independence Day

EDIT:

Looks like the Xbox One S will be getting an update soon for HD/Atmos/DTS:X audio which is great news. Still think this is a good deal for someone looking for a standalone UHD Blu Ray player.

Xbox One S is scheduled to get an update for HD audio. It absolutely can do it, just not yet. :)

These aren't rated very good. Build quality is supposed to be bad too. The Panasonic players are rated much better but obviously start at around £100 more with only one film included...

We shall not name that terrible movie mind. :{X)

Overpriced imo!

Seems to be the cheapest price around, with the 3 movies it must fall below £200. A majority of sites have it for £299.

Never knew that about the Xbox getting an update, ive got a Xbox One S so might hold off. Never realised it was planned as they never added HD audio to the original XBone the last few years, think it was something to do with the way the split the audio when in menus (cant really remember)

Will have a look for more info on the HD audio update, ta.

What is it with xbox one fan boys spouting rubbish, i have both. The xbox is great as a second player and glad they installed the drive and will be better when atmos lands, however in comparison to the samsung it is slow and clunky, slow to load, panning scenes not as smooth, picture not quite as sharp and a lot noisier.

Nothing wrong with the build quality of the samsung, only cheap bit is the usb cover, great 4k performance, remote is small but a lot easier to use than the xbox pad!

Not rated very well, i guess you decided to skip the xbox one reviews as purely a 4k player! Also since launch has been various firnware updates which seem to have improved user experience.

I thought the Xbox One S could feed both DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD to your AV Amp, which would be more than enough for 99.9% of movie fans? Atmos would be nice but is only relevant to a minuscule number of people.

What hi fi all suggested it was available for xbox one preview members now which i am but no sign of it as yet so not sure if they are mistaken or if being released in stages

I believe they are adding everything up to atmos so the other hd sound sources will also be added at the same time to be outputted properly for your amp to decode

You need to chill out mate. Don't even own an Xbox One. I play their exclusives on PC. Try not to jump to silly conclusions and instead, read posts properly.

This player is slated as being poor in comparison to the PANASONIC players. I said nothing about the Xbox One other than it was getting an update. Christ. No need to get so defensive just because you bought this player. :|

Not at all and it wasnt slated against the Panasonic at time of launch, it was said not to be quite as good as the only other player on the market at the time which cost £200 more, i would be very disappointed if an item costing a third less was as good. This is the best 4k player available for under £250.

Im guessing if you dont own an xbox one or this player you probably not in a position to add anything constructive but repeat what you've read elsewhere.

Ps i only quoted your post as was most relevant and the start of all the xbox one posts, wasnt personal!

What I have read is from people who own this player and reviews from professionals. You're entitled to your own opinion and I am glad you are happy with your purchase but that in no way reflects the general opinions on this vs the latest Panasonic that is £100-£120 more. All I did was point that out for those who wish to buy a better player. In fact, my original post even said that. Whether I own it or not is irrelevant. If all I am doing is repeating what I read elsewhere, then you by admission, are saying that nobody should take your opinions on this player on board either because they don't own it themselves. Makes no sense. You don't have to own it, to be knowledgable about it.

The only talk of the Xbox One S posts in here was that it was getting an update. The OP then decided not to buy this and save their money. That's it. You've jumped to conclusions and got it wrong about what people meant. I myself only pointed out the pros and cons. The Panasonics are better players. They are however, more expensive and include one crap film. This is cheaper and includes 3 better films but has worse build quality and doesn't perform as well as the Panasonics. I won't comment on the Xbox One S' performance as a 4K player as I don't know enough about it, but it does have better value than both players due to it being a games console too. Obviously that value will only appeal to gamers though.

People can buy what they want and what their budget allows. Having the best of everything is not viable for a lot of people. Me included. What they buy is for the manufacturers to be concerned about. All I did was try to help people make an informed decision based on pros and cons without having to buy each of the three and wasting money and time until they were happy with their choice. Nothing wrong with buying any of the three choices at all.

Thanks, OP. Ordered. I think £220 is an ok price with the 3 4k discs thrown in.

Thanks mambo. I was straight onto ebuyer asking if they supplied a customer return or something. The box seal said "disc inside" or similar words to that effect. The packaging for the player had pictures of the films all over it too. Samsung are sending replacement discs in the post - 3-5 business days.

Thats good that samsung are sending the discs out so quickly, I wonder what ebuyer will come back with, you may end up getting an extra wee discount

I'm wanting to buy a 4k player that also upscale blu Ray.

Currently The x box one s, despite audio issues above, it does not upscale blu Ray to 4k which all the other players seem to do...
