Flawed auto dimming feature on this TV makes it horrible to watch, and the edge bleed from the light isn't great either.
I was considering buying it when it was released, but was disapointed with it.

Also, input lag means it's not too great for gaming either.

It's a nice TV to look at.....when it's not turned on.

I had a philips TV with auto dimming on and it was pain to watch, though I could turn it off, I assume the Samsung would be the same?

Looking at these TV's in the shops they look really nice, if you are after one of these TV's, it's a good price for a 40" set. Shame you can't pick up from store though.

Hummm is it worth waiting for all UK TV's to be DVB-T2?, can't be long before they all start to support it?

Bad price for a bad LCD.

Shocking price

Bad? I'm confused - everyone seemed to love it here http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/494507/samsung-series-7-7020-40-ue40b7020-
It's not a normal LCD, it's LED edge lit. If you don't understand the technology then you shouldn't comment.

You can also use the Samsung £150 cash back on this offer - www.samsung.com/eco

I've been thinking hard if ether to get one of these.

Do read up on AVForums though as some users have had issues with "clouding" which is noticeable on dark screens with the lights off. Remember that these guys are passionate and quite **** about their technology though, other users are very happy with it. Maybe it's down to luck.

Don't forget 1.5% Quidco also spend over £100 and get £10 of free Argos vouchers. Ends 17/11/09

are we debating if this is a good price for the model quoted, or whether it is the best tv in the universe ?

lets stick to the post, we all have our own differing opinions on which is the best tv.

If you can find a cheaper price then say, if not add heat !

Not really. It's bad that many people don't know just how good these TVs are (or vote deals cold when they don't actually understand anything about the product on which they're voting/comenting).
"Normal" LCD TVs have fluorescent tubes as their back-lights.
This range of Samsung TVs (and some ones by Sony and Philips) are hybrids. They have white LEDs as their back-lights which can be dimmed in segments to create much deeper blacks and better contrast than regular LCD TVs where the flourescent backlight stays at the same brightness (relying on just the LCDs ability to block light to create blacks).

If you use voucher codes at retailers then Quidco doesn't normally track and pay, so go for the best deal for you, cashback or voucher discount - I assume the voucher is better at £200 :-D

I have the 46" version of this, it's a great TV. The dimming can be switched off. Don't think it's a great price though, 1stAudioVisual have it for £1029 before cashback.

What about the SHARP LED TVs? Are they any better?
#14
I looked at the Sharp Led Tv's they are not in the same league as the Samsung picture quality and the TV is much thicker as the LEDs are behind the screen and not around the edge. My next TV will be a Samsung LED, just waiting for DVB-T2 to be built in now.

Not only can you not turn off the auto dimming feature, they also included the problem on their 2nd gen LED screens.
