Do John Lewis generally price match BHSdirect for the free 5 year guarantee?

You do know all tv's come with 5 years guarntee.. by law all tvs are covered for 5 years

There is a common misunderstanding that the EU Directive requires a two-year guarantee to be given, but that is not the case. UK law in practice provides better protection for consumers than the two-year minimum required by the EU - consumers are able to pursue relevant claims for up to six years (five in Scotland)."

JL 5 years warranty is actually a 5 year warranty.
The EU/UK one can actually proportion refunds or a contribution for repair as the years go on, So by 4 years they may only offer a 20 - 30% refund, and trust me you will have to fight about it.

The title and picture is wrong..... The link goes to the Eh5000, which is an older model than the H5000.

Well spotted - I'll just hope JL don't notice that and offer £255 on the H

They will not price match as I have asked. BHS use a third party company. See response from JL below.

John Lewis does not price match against Debenhams Plus because they are run by a 3rd party company called Buy it Direct, this means that they do not operate on the same basis as John Lewis.

Hope it helps!

I doubt very much they will miss that.... The EH being an older and inferior model to the H...... it even looks quite different.
I don't get why the op didn't copy the pic of the site.... and obviously copied it from elsewhere

I had this TV and it had brilliant picture and even the sound was ok for a budget TV. Ok, so it doesn't have any smart features and you can't record onto a USB drive but if all you want is excellent quality picture, this really does the job. I paid over £300 so £255 is an excellent price. Check AV Forums for recommended settings to get the best from this TV.

With the current climate its difficult to know who will be around in 5 years time. I do know though that John Lewis will and will provide excellent service if something does go wring.

Brilliant price for a very well connected TV!

Grab a chromecast and a cheap 32\63gb usb to stream from and away you go, smart for less!

**
note: not a massive, avid gamer|sports fan on TV's, but this set and the 4 others in the nov 2012 [launche 2013] range, are all laggy and have PVA panels fitted. Thus slow screen refresh and angles compared to some.

just got that answer too, which at least I'll know for the future. It was a real long-shot anyway because, as Jeff had spotted, I was really asking then to price match an EH5000 for and H5000!

The 40H5000 is only an extra £24 at JL........ a newer model and 5 yrs warranty.
Better deal than this one.

Yup Jeff - had it in my sights and just making my final decision over a couple of models/manufacturers (which I've got price-match offers on the others). It was just the vain hope of tricking JL into £255 for the H had me going :D They've made worse bloopers before!!!!

I have the 32" version of this, and paid the same price as this 40" model about a year ago.
The sound is a bit mushy, but that's probably my 58-year-old ears!
In all other respects, it's a great TV and I think at this price the 40" is a bargain.

So you know for a fact that John Lewis will still be around in 5 years time? Bit of a foolish thing to say...

Oh go on then, let's see you find some proof for that claim.

You know, real, actual proof. Perhaps quoting the law concerned?

Aye - they'll likely tell you after smarty comments you can recorded/courier delivery back to somewhere and they'll have a snigger then offer you £30 off (5 less than than you just spent on postage) on a new TV so long as you pay RRP. Get real please.

I don't want to have a fight on my hands to use this consumer law of getting over a years warranty, they can put up all sorts of hurdles in your way, to the point where its just not worth the hassle & a great deal time pursuing it.
So I only buy TV's from John Lewis or Richer Sounds, where I know for a fact if there's a fault it will be either repaired or replaced without quibble over the 5 years.
Life's too short.
