LED tastic

I had to go for it - Superb
#3
super tv - super price
#4
good price but it isn't an LED telly - Samsung have just been made to withdraw their advertising.

This is an LCD TV with LED back lighting, as long as you know, good price
#5
This is definitely an amazing price for the 46" version... hot, hot hot.

Wow ...

Thanks for this just ordered ... was just about to buy one from Dixons which is the next cheapest (I think) online at £1369 ...

with all the vouchers off and NOT forgetting quidco and the £150 samsung voucher these become :

dixons £1189 ish
dell £998 ... so nearly £200 ish off

happy happy

p.s. this is the exact same tv as the samsung series 7 '7000' except has a grey tinge instead of a ruby red tinge ... or so a salesman told me last week. Also its capable of mkv playback thru one of its 2 usb's. Allegedly can't handle mkv's with 7.1 surround tho. The input cab be either fat 32 or NTFS so you can play files that are greater than 4gb

just hope its not a dell misprice that they'll go back on ... i notice they sell the the 40'' version for more !

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Link to article on Cnet regarding ASA ruling Cnet regarding ASA ruling

For a better explanation on LED tv's read this article on Techradar

To be honest I think you are expecting OLED technology which is out there mainly in commercial applications but seriously expensive and not currently viable for the consumer market.

In my opinion LED backlit LCD screens are better than a standard lit LCD screens and are about the best bang for your cash without spending around 2K on a Pioneer Kuro plasma if you can still get one.

Price is good although I hadn't heard of Dell selling Tv's before, read up on AV forums to see what people on there think of them and advice on picture settings as the instore setups you see in big chain stores are often useless and not even HD.

Only issue is no option to purchase additional warranty - samsung only provide 1 year. Any idea if it's possible to purchase additional warranty somewhere?

shoud be £51 quidco ... 5% of (£1199 - 15% vat) .....

Anyone actually had the funds take from their credit cards yet ... I have a long history with dell and they tend to cancel stuff like this without warning !! Mines still reserved (barclaycard), but theres no sign as yet of it going through and no tracking yet from quidco .... fingers crossed !! :?
#18
1042.60 is the price without vat. Quidco
52.13 for quidco
Looking for a final price of 1199 minus 150 minus 52.13 (if tracked)
996.87 for this screen.. pretty sick!

The Dell Site is currently showing this for my order ....

Order Status

Service is currently not available

We regret that this service is currently not available. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and try again later.

however ... this looks to be another dell smokescreen .... because if i put in one of my previous orders I can see it no bother ... Prepare for the worst unfortunately because these should be tracking by now ....

Just phoned Dell. They said my order has been cancelled but they didn't know why.

when did you order yours ??? ....

I've just rang them (17.40 friday) and they've given me a delivery date of october 29 .....

Finally managed to get at the order status online using my dell customer number and the
order number I've just been given .... The worrying thing is where it says Fulfulment Delay ...
The estimated delivery date is said to be the 29th .. if it goes beyond this it could well render
the samsung £150 off useless as the order as far as I know has to be completed before
the 31st .... could be in for some nail biting even if dell honour it ... which I still doubt ..
(they've screwed up a LOT of my previous orders with them ...)

Did anyone else get a phone call straight after they ordered? i did they just wanted to confirm that i was who i said i was.

I order my first one at about 11.45 am on the 15th, although they said it has been cancelled the order status says this:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing Dell.

Your order is being custom-built to your requirements at our factory.

As we custom build each order to your exact specification, it can take up to ten working days to build and deliver your order.

Custom built to my requirements - cool !!

On the subject of warranty maybe you could get it either price matched by a retailer that does or even John Lewis under their "never knowingly under sold" jibber jabber and get their free warranty?

One thing on the technology, the Samsung uses an LED back light which surrounds the screen which is why they are so thin, where as other back lit led screens have backlights across the whole of the screen making the colour and light much more even however these tvs are noticeably thicker compared to the Samsung.
Pretty sure people like Sony and Sharp use this type of technology rather than the lower spec surround lighting used in the Samsung, maybe one of these could be found for a similar price and also explains why Samsung are doing some kind of cashback scheme under the guise of an eco scheme because others now have tv's on the market which are superior and not much more expensive..

Hardly superior.
The sharp one wasn't as crisp (was next to the samsung in comet) and the sony was a typical sony product, over priced at £2500

I think everyone in the world is very much aware that the samsung is side LEDs, I'm not bothered if the only LED is in the on button, the fact of the matter is that this TV looks amazing regardless of the description.

This seems all very doubtful to me. I've been around since the dawn of the internet and have taken advantage of many offers on this site and sites before this and this stinks of not being fulfilled - particulary before the end of this month (when the cashback deal expires).

I won't be suing them though when I don't get my telly, just dissapointed again.
#30
I am dying to hear something from Dell about my order, their customer services is very very poor. And my credit card company also decided not to authorise the payment in case it was fraud, which hasn't helped. I'm going to be nervous until the TV arrives, if it even does.

Meanwhile, the samsung cashback is valid for PURCHASES made before Oct 31, and you have until the end of November to claim:

"To be eligible to claim your cash back you must have purchased your qualifying Samsung TV new (not second-hand) between 1st October 2009 and 31st October 2009 inclusive from a retailer in the UK, Isle Of Man or the Channel Islands."

"Proof of purchase submitted must detail the qualifying product purchased, the retailer’s name, address and telephone number, the serial number of the qualifying product purchased, the date of purchase and the price paid."

So, even if it is not DELIVERED before Oct 31, I would guess it should still be fine, as long as the purchase date on the invoice shows a date within October?

In all of this, I have assumed that getting the Samsung cashback will be a smooth process - has anyone actually received any money from Samsung under this scheme (doubt anyone who has would be browsing this forum though!)?
#31
I've been thinking and as we all have conformation of orders stating the order date and order number. i think we will be ok, Just make sure that you Pdf both invoice and order conformation and send it to samsung.
1 document shows the date you ordered and the other document shows order was fulfilled.

My delivery date now shows 29/10/09

mine does too if you use the internet receipt they sent you, but if you have a dell customer number and ring them for your actual order number .. you'll then know ... the site is only screwing up when you use the IR number and your e-mail address. I had a customer number because I bought a laptop from them a few weeks back .....
#34
I ordered mine Friday morning, I have an order confirmation saying it will be delivered by 4th November. I also had a callback from Dell yesterday to confirm. The guy I spoke to said the delivery company will now get in touch to arrange a date.

Online however it says "We are checking with our suppliers that the items you need are available" whatever that means

ah, so i've found my customer number from a previous order.. but dell cust svcs are closed at the weekend so i can't get my order number.

man, if i tried i don't think i'd be able to design a site as badly as this.. whats the point of logging into my account when it can't even display the orders i've placed in the past and their order numbers.. and whats the point of having an internet receipt number different to the order number... and whats the point of giving me an internet receipt number if it can't be used to track... and what's the point of me complaining about all of this on hotukdeals.. i need my tv before i go crazy
#36
Did you get an order confirmation email and PDF?

Did you get an order confirmation email and PDF?

nope, my credit card company declined the payment to Dell to protect me from fraud (thanks a lot for that), and an order number with pdf is only generated once they have been able to process payment, until then they work off the internet receipt number. they are supposed to be taking payment again, so i guess i'll only know when they've done that...i just hope it's not out of stock or something by then given how good a deal this is.
#38
It is a cracking deal. I was about to buy the 40" model before I saw this. So for more or less the same money I had to do it.
#39
Mines now slipped back til the 5th of novemeber ...

hope it doesn't affect the cashback ...
#40
The price has now gone back up to £1439
