It is one damn fine TV, I'll give you that.

Amazing TV, anywhere cheaper?
Free 5yr warranty altho arguably a TV of this status really should include it anyway.
#3
is this ment to be a "deal" at that price? because im sure its price will surely plummet :| sadly but these things usualy do :{

These Tv's pretty much hold there value, the one before this d8000 55" has finally gone down to £1800 from £2200

[quote=realblender]This is rubbish. You are paying for the camera gimmick and voice recognition which is not good. Buy an Xbox and pay for a tv known for picture quality (e.g. a sony) . So cold.[/quote

Well done ! Constructive ......backed up with facts.......and a viable alternative.......................oO

so a camera plus remote support...
http://www.samsungsupport.com/remotesupport/

only when you allow it - yeah right... not one for the bedroom.

Shouldnt be cold really, can't get it cheaper from any reputable source. I work for JL and have sold a few of these myself, to be honest, though.. the voice and motion control, for me, is far from perfected. Treat it purely as a gimmick, the only noteworthy addition to the ES series is the built in camera. Otherwise go for LG's 55 inch offering which may be more expensive, but at least it's fully backlit. :) Oh and has WiDi (Wireless display).

Just my 2 cents.

Funny I see this tv here today, I walked by the Samsung store yesterday and this tv was in the shop window. I was AMAZED at the quality of the picture, I stood there for a good few minutes just staring at the screen.

Not for a full replacement if un repairable.........after 5 years and a court case you may get some compensation.....its not the same as a full 5 year guarantee.........Stone FACT

Great TV. Not a deal though as this is the general market price. But I want one of these so much.

Saw this at the Gadget Show live, looked amazing but LG's new range looked even better IMHO. Think that stand will date quickly too

Thank you. Now, the pressure on you to explain why your post is a "deal" and not spam. What exactly does this tv do really well compared to a £700 cheaper model that makes it worth the launch price? Or how does its price at John lewis make it a "deal". If you want to chat about brand new tv releases, why dont you make a thread in misc or visit the avforums? (i've marked your deal as spam as I dont think it is sincere).

I don t think i ll bother , i asked for arguments to back up your silly comments but you just ran off and told the teacher , bet you were popular.

Am I right in thinking this is a DLP rear projection TV?

Yes its a DLP and wont be avaiable in the UK.

Bit sad though as i had a DLP and they are fantastic for buget large screen TV's.

Why are they silly? Why is this a deal? Why isnt it spam? Come on... say something about the TV and the deal

Its not spam because i dont own John Lewis , A deal is the eye of the beholder, i can understand and fully expected this to be voted cold for a few reasons. Mainly because its 2500 quid , its not a plasma and the only advantage in this deal is the 5 year guarantee. To be honest i put this on because its a fantastic tele , i ve seen this and the d8000 and they are to die for , not only for the style but amazing picture quality. My sister has one and everyone thats steps foot in the room is blown away. You may not agree but Sony have lagged so far behind the curve they have not got a tv in their range that can stand up to this. Love or hate Samsung you cannot deny that they push the boundaries of what to expect from a tv. Over priced ? of course .......but you can t say that s its rubbish, go and look at one and i ll guarantee you ll be impressed.

Same price there...with 5 year warranty, and £50 more for another 4 pairs of glasses.

The price is OTT
This deal is the same price elsewhere...

Er, your posts indicated that JL was a deal as it had a 5 year warranty.

My point is that both of these have 5 year warranties too...making this deal totally void

You picked me up on a point but having been proven wrong decide to resort to name calling.

That says more about you than anybody else.

It's a poor deal, don't take it personally.

hypothetically if you wanted this tv and wanted it now with a 5 year guarantee where would you buy it from

Hypothetically…
I could post EVERY item in the world that JL pricematch and then say “it’s a deal as I could have a JL warranty with it. This place would be pretty rubbish if others followed your lead.

You are missing the point. You claimed the 5 year warranty was the added benefit…proven to be false.

This TV will be under 2k in a few months - so why rush if you are desperate to keep it for 5 years ;o)
There are not enough benefits on this model to pay the premium.

And if this is about spending the extra rather than being logical with your purchase then you are proving that this is not a great deal.

There is just no logic to spending 2500 on a 55” TV when the only features (gestures etc) are poor and hugely marked up.

I will accept whatever you reply with – so please continue your argument with the next person who disagrees with you.

An answer would of been nice .................. John Lewis will have to accept that not one person in the country will buy this tv until it comes down in price.

Great tv! I've got the 46" version as this ones too big for my lounge. Got mine from Crampton & Moore as for £50 extra on the rrp you get 6 pairs of 3D glasses, a 3D Bluray player and the 5 year warranty.

Samsung UE55ES8000  3D LED TV + Blu Ray Player
+ 6 Pairs Glasses
+ 5 Year Warranty
£2549

So a lot more for an extra £50 making it a great deal.

I've just seen the UE55ES8000 on Richer Sounds (collection only) for £2499.95 including a 3d blu-ray player, two extra pairs of glasses and a 5 year warranty....tempting
