Excellent TV with some high end features. Always rated very high by review websites. If you've done your research into TVs when looking to purchase one, you'll probably already know all about the TV and its excellent features so no point me repeating them here.

JL have it for £949 but will price match Hughes Direct for £849 although they only have it in stock @ Apollo - Preston, Ribbleton Lane Trading Estate so make sure you mention that in the price match request.

Amazon had this at £799 but without a 5 year warranty. Also it is out of stock at Amazon and has been for a few weeks.

If you look at all the other John Lewis tv posts they are posted the same way. I'm sure a mod will change it if it's against the rules.

This tv is not worth the money.

You can get the 4k 6900 model for 950 quid:

http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue55hu6900-4k-ultra-hd-smart-tv-55-with-freeview-hd/p1467580

Much better to pay a hundred quid extra to future proof the tv.

if you knew your TVs then you'd know that the ue55hu6900 is available for about £799 but more importantly it is a rubbish tv. Read the expert reviews and customer feedback.

the 4k one is rated poorly by HDTV Test.
"Verdict
The Samsung UE55HU6900 is a case of you get what you pay for. Yes it’s 4K, but only when the picture on screen is mostly still. Once the camera starts panning, resolution drops away quite noticeably, and unfortunately there’s no motion-enhancing technology available on the set to reduce blurring."

Since that review there has been multiple firmware upgrades.

It is now able to handle 4k content normally. It can be further enhanced by turning off the likes of DNR etc in the settings. Obviously this tv is not as good as a premium set costing far more but still a better deal than going for the 6700 at almost the same price.

I beg to differ. I would either rather wait for 4k to settle down and become more mass market and refined in terms of processors or get a higher end tv. 4k at the lower end is a false economy. It's like those cameras that have a really high megapixel count but have rubbish sensors.

The 6900 uses a lower end panel and doesn't have the features of a higher end panel. Even though you'd think that going by the model number 6900 > 6700 in reality it's the other way round.

I've been waiting for this model to become available again at £799 on Amazon, but obviously the 5yr warranty is great for £50 more.
Does any one know if the JL price match is only local or internet/country wide?

No worries just looked up JL price match
Says high street store needs to be within 8 miles :(

They'll match it wherever you are. They did for me. Just need to order it online. Give it a try.
They'll match it country

Have submitted an online price match form as advised by JL. Just have to wait for their reply.
Hopefully by Saturday.
Thanks eshaq786, it's worth a try ☺

Just heard back, no price match... email body below... :(
As you have submitted a price match with JohnLewis.com we check the online availability for products (for retailers with a high street presence).

I have investigated you price match with hughe and found that the Samsung UE55H6700 55 inch TV priced at £849.00 is a in store exclusive price dependent on product availability.

Therefore on this occasion I cannot price match with hughe on this occasion. If you would like to price match with hughe's in store price you will need to submit a local price match with a John Lewis store.

In order to submit a price match in store please visit or contact your nearest John Lewis. Please have the product details and the competitor details and price to hand. Our Partners will then investigate this and inform you as soon as possible.

The 6900 also is not 3D and lacks the twin tuners of the 6700

I've got my price match refunded today so it went through. Only other option for those with failed price matches is to wait for Hughes to stock it and then submit a price match.

Received this from JL price match team:

"In order to match a price request, the competitor must be able to provide the same service conditions. Unfortunately, as Hughes are not able to provide a home delivery service like John Lewis, for the Samsung UE55H6700 LED HD 1080p 3D Smart TV, I am unable to price match with them on this occasion."

Thanks for posting, anyway :)

Sorry to hear that. I may have got lucky then. Might be worth a try in store as a last resort. The next cheapest price match is crampton and Moore at £899.
