So, I spotted yesterday that Currys does online deal for this TV at £699 (in store is still £799). But they only offer standard 1 year warranty. Therefore I went to my local John Lewis and asked for p… Read More

Code TV30 will save you £30 on top of at Currys (£669).

Depends if the extra spend for the warranty is worth it to you.

I would prefer extra 4 years warranty rather than £30 savings but you're right.

Will Sky standard def look poop on this?
I have a UE49KU6500 (49") which is basically the curved version of the KU6400 series & standard def sky looks really bad frankly. The good thing is, this TV has a built in Freeview HD & Freesat HD tuner. So you can get lots of HD channels through Freeview HD, you'll need an aerial for this like these: goo. gl/vjb2jP). Using the satellite cable that goes into your Sky box, you can also get pretty much all Sky channels using the built in satellite tuner, but the paid channels won't work as an actual Sky box is needed to decrypt those channels.

I have a Sky box but the missus still watches the odd channel broadcast in SD...... I'm really reluctant to change from my 50 inch Panasonic plasma as the picture is really good, though sometimes, a little dark.

KS7000 is almost 2x more expensive and when you watch both next to each other there is very small difference in picture quality so I'm not sure if it is worth paying extra ££££ but this depends on preference as usually

This guy is right, £699.99 and if you use buy now pay later you get 10% back. You'll miss out on the extra 4 year warranty though.

Just got John Lewis to price match for £669. Not sure if I'll bite, waiting to see what Black Friday brings.

No guarantee that an indoor aerial will work in your area.

It is a good point, but I think I will take the risk on stock - the price after all, is locked for another 28 days. I don't want the headache of returning the TV if I find a better deal on Black Friday!

between now and black Friday is less than 28 days, so they should refund against any of the normal companies they match against without sending the TV back. I got caught last year waiting and lost out so got in early this time :)

The John Lewis 5 year warranty isn't all it's cracked up to be. I bought a Sony 55inch from John Lewis in the summer of 2014 costing £1200. A few months ago I noticed several dead pixels which were quite noticeable on the screen. I called them to make a claim and after some initial tests and self remedy that they talked me through on the phone, the dead pixels remained on the screen. A week of emails back and forth before an engineer was arranged to come out to replace the LCD panel only to be informed two days before that they've reviewed my claim and have now decided it's not covered by the warranty after all, stating that the locations of the dead pixels does not interfere with the viewing. I told them that it did interfere with my viewing as I can see them, in particular in very light scenes, and the fact that I know they're there now and I can see them all the time. They weren't really interested and in not so many word, told me that they're not replacing the panel and it was tough. Maybe I was just unlucky with my claim. Certainly next time I would probably go for the cheapest price available.

Nice TV (have 42 inch version) though still getting used to uhdtv on Netflix. Can look a bit too bright and sharp but may need to adjust settings. Generally very happy though.

You need to tell them it's a £30 off marked price with a voucher code available to everyone. They have just priced matched the extra £30 for us after already dropping the price to £699 last week from another retailer.

Does anyone know if this has an optical out for connecting a surround sound system?

cheers. I rang them again and low and behold they can now do it... Although not at that point in time because it was greater than £100 so I've had to submit a price match. Only thing is that I think the Curry's 30 off is only for today. Maybe it's wishful thinking they'll process the price match tonight?!

Thank you. Are we sure it's 8bit too? I've found some info suggesting it's 10bit.

Thinking about it, take a screen shot and if they decline tomorrow send them that, I had a right issue with them declining perfectly good price matches and got help from their CEOs team.

do they do a smaller size i.e 42 or 46?

UHD colour only on HDMI 1, if this bothers anyone, all mine go through the amp first, so doesn't bother me.
