Do Makro deliver to your door?
Just that I've never seen a Makro anywhere near me....(after checking the store finder it's about an hours journey away).

They also don't allow access to the general public, which this threads always fail to point out.

trade , you need to be v.a.t registered etc . If you know someone with a shop or a business they would probably have a macro card you could use.

You don't need to be VAT registered to join Makro. You need to be self-employed, or working for a business who has signed up for Makro. I've got a Makro card and I'm not VAT registered (I'm a self-employed sole trader).

i was going to get this, but after looking at the reviews i thought that this wasn't a very good camera compared to the alternatives like the Sony HC51 which can be had for a little more around £140. The sony feels much better and i think it is a little more compact, the sony also has night sho cpability where as this doesn't. I think i also read somewhere that the image stabilization on the samsung was bad and pictures were grainy.

Generally, good reviews both @ Amazon and Ciao :)

not hard drive?

I need to hook up a decent cam next month with Hard drive, evrything is going that way these days. (i think may be getting old!)

If you don't want to spend £350+ then you can forget about hard drive.

Unlike what many people think, miniDV is still a perfectly viable storage option, tapes are cheap and there is no degradation in quality, as they are digital.

Also if you have a harddrive camcorder and you drop it on the last day of your holiday, you've lost your cam AND all your recorded memories.

Thats the second post I have read in the past minute that someone has worried that they will get lynched for an item being out of stock. that PSP thread has a lot to answer for!

A partly flawed theory I'm afraid. They are cheap and the picture is less compressed than DVD and hard drive formats but magnetic tape is still susceptible to expansion and contraction due to temperature/humidity variations over time. Shrinkage disrupts the position of the recorded tracks and can result in "Off-Tracking" meaning recorded tracks shift and the play heads can't accurately read the information. Also, friction between tape and recorder heads after repeated passes on the tape will affect the image and sound quality over a period of time.

Would this be any good for recording gigs in low light? want to get one as Im going to 3 festivals this year, 34x zoom sounds like enough.

Whats the picture quality like?
