Considering their "strengths remain an indepth knowledge / experience of computer hardware, IT infrastructure, systems and operating systems" and they have produced a site that looks like something out of windoze'98 Frontpage - I'd avoid...

You have peace of mind with QVC - if you don't like it when you receive it you can send it back for a refund - no problem
It does seem to be a good deal
\However it doesn't do HD quality does it?

You can send anything back brought by mail order for a refund within 7 working days, Also there are other sites selling this for around the same price

That is SHOCKING ...The picture you have is actually for the VP-HMX20C which if you search you'll find is about £350 ..... the model described looks like below, not so good now ..this model is NOT Hi-Def and the reviews I've found are really bad (Reviewed by T3 Magazine)...AVOID....voted COLD

A dead givaway other than the fact the one they've pictured is black is the fact the sticker on the front shows H.264, this is an advanced High Definition Codec which the VP-MX20 couldn't even think about handling...

However, If QVC have screwed up and send you the VP-HMX20C (the one they've pictured) then you've got a real bargain !

Couldn't find any reviews of this on the web.
Here's a link to Samsung's press release which has a bit more info.
along with details of the High-Def model (which is NOT the one QVC are selling)
http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/news/newsRead.do?news_group=productnews&news_type=consumerproduct&news_ctgry=cameraampcamcorder&news_seq=10258

It seems it DOES do H.264 - which I think is just a way of compressing the data.

There is an earlier model (VP-MX10) sold on Amazon (which Empire Direct sold
for few hours at £100!!) but the two user comments rate it as poor.

Personally I'm interested because it does 'interval recording' and is supposed
to power on in less than a second.

Zootaga - do you have a link for the T3 review please?
I could only find a 'coming soon' article on their web-site.

Have samsung got it wrong as well as qvc, they're both stating H264 and the camera in the pic looks the same :?

the one on TV black! they are also bringing this camera out in red, blue and silver; they're not going to send you the HMX20C, this is a samsung UK deal and they are not going to send you a £350+ camera!! Yes, this handles 720x576i - otherwise why would they quote it on the website!!

you are talking complete codswhallop, and have no evidence to back up your wild claims! this is brand new, no reviews as yet, so don't vote cold, it's a very good price esp with SD, this is £179 on amazon and £154.99 (without memory card) on play.com

this camera is for people who like to upload to youtube, H.264 looks pretty good on youtube and if at a bitrate over 1024kbs will dislay in high quality mode

On the Samsung site, it says this codec is only used for a higher compression ratio, but NOT HD

this camera supports H.264 at 720x576i, what else can you expect for £148.48? i think this is pretty respectable!

Yes its gone back up to £180

I only got mine today so its hard to advise if its worth the £180, but so far im quite impressed with it & its easy to use, its ready to shoot almost immediately!

If i have to be honest I would go for the Hi definition one, its basicly the same but with a higher resolution, thats the one i would have got had it been available, not even sure if its available in the uk yet?

here is a link for the hi-def one: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nb54IFU6X0E&NR=1
