Are there any HOTUKDEALer's out there that have first hand experience of this phone? We're looking for a phone deal that will allow my wife to send lots of texts, play on facebook, include a few calls and includes a neat simple phone - for very little £££££ each month!

I have had mine for nearly 9 months now, it is by far the best phone i have had for a long time. before this i had iphone 3g. the wave has 1 gig cpu HD camcorder and one of the best screens iv ever seen lots of apps in the store but not as many as the other brands. it is identical hardware as the galaxy s only that runs android and this runs samsungs new BADA platform.

What is this like for going on the internet? And how does it compare to the Galaxy S (first one)?

Thanks!! :):)
#7
And how much is 1GB of data? Would that be enough for say 20mins a day surfing the internet? How much would it be to upgrade or if you ran over?

The phone is great. The Software is horrible. Making this the most frustrating phone I have ever used in my life. It's on Samsungs very own Bada OS stuck at 1.0 so basically the very first version and is so bugged.

The camera is very good and the screen is awesome. If this phone was on Android, it would be better than the Samsung Galaxy S but the Bada platform is just so horrible to use its unreal.

If just using the internet on the odd occasion would you say it is a good price then? Also how far does 1GB get you? Thanks a lot.

1gb is plenty for about 98% of people who don't use it for streaming audio/video. If it's just for web browsing then it's totally fine. I consider myself a very heavy user but because I don't stream video/audio, I very rarely get anywhere near 1GB.

The Internet browsing is quite frustrating. And is what I would say is one of the weakest feature of the phone. A lot of that is because theer is no text warping that you get in HTC's and iPhones which makes the whole browsing expeirence very unpleasant. I honestly cannot stress how poor the OS is which makes a great phone like this very bad.

If you had asked if it would be great for media and photos, I would say absolutely! It is a good price for the kit but for web browsing and general usage, it's a big no no for me.

1gb of data is loads, and is more than most networks will give you. More than enough data for any normal user.

Its has a good internet browser, a great screen and a fast CPU so, in my opinion, a good phone for the internet.

For £10 a month, I cant see you getting a better phone with that amount of mins and texts and data. But, I could be wrong...
#12
also, just in comparison to Toybhoy, I find the OS good and easy to use (however I am not as heavy a user). Dont get me wrong the OS is not perfect, but I dont have any major issue with it. Everyone has there own opinion on it.

Plus just download the Opera Mini browser for the phone which is free and this will help with a better internet experience. What I found anyway.

I was in Tesco (hamilton) Leicester earlier today and theyre having a promotion on this phone which I am in the process of getting... You get the Samsung Wave along with 750 or 700 mins + 5000 text + 1gb Data all for £20! thats more than what O2 are offering at the moment and the phone seems decent.

this is not a good deal, I had a 100minute sim card last year and always found myself restricted in my usage and went over ever so slightly (2-5mins) sometimes and ended up paying an extra £2 a month!

Tesco have reduced most of the "out of plan" prices, however it can be pricey to go over, but my sim only deal is very cheap.

We're now back into the HTC Desire or Blackberry debate.
By the time we decide we'll be too old to use Facebook!

yeah tell me about it, not only does it add to the basket, but when i logged in, enetered details etc it repeatedly(including another log-in and another card) told me the cards werent verified....

When i got through on the phone she says oh No sorry its out of stock.... HAPPY I AM NOT!!!!
I wasted around two hours including phone calls and calling bank, believeing my card was at fault(particularly in the current 'sony' climate) only to be told that they had verified the card ok....
Fired off an email for what its worth, but I was seething.

i tried the stock shecker number, and the guy was either new or not all the ticket but eventually, he told me the local I had rung the day before and bene told No stock, had 5....

I didn't push him to try other stores as I didnt have 3 more days off to wait for his answer, but phoned the local store and the same woman says "did I speak to you yesterday??" Yes my reply.... Oh great she says , after I went through yesterdays stock intake I found one :)

So my son is now the proud owner of a Wave :) the excited smile on his face was worth the extra grief :)
Stunning screen, which is why he wanted that phone in the first place, and I had put him off but the deal is a no brainer really..

Had a T-mobile Pulse as my first Android phone but then had to upgrade so bought an unlocked Wave II during the CPW clearance for £100. At that price I had to take a chance on it because it had the same spec, minus the screen, as the Galaxy S, but different chipset and better GPU than the iPhone 4 according to GSMArena at a fraction of the cost of said phones.
Kind of wish I'd bought two now.

In all honesty the Bada OS v1.2 is okay. Plus the speed of the phone makes everything seem very, very smooth. People say Bada is crap but so was Android to begin with and look how far Android has developed, if you don't wait for official firmware releases.
Samsung should pull their collective fingers out and spread some Bada 2.0 love before people lose interest in it.
I haven't joined up with Samsung apps so I can't comment on that right now.
Also waiting for the guys at XDA to be able to crowbar/dual boot Bada and Android together onto the same phone.

I like my Wave II.
