Today I bought the Samsung WF8604NGW 1400 RPM 6KG Washing Machine White for £249 from B&Q in Euro Ransome Park, Ipswich. The label says £299 but when you put through the till it come out at £249. Very good price for a good brand and 1400 RPM as well.

Unfortunately I could not make Comet (currently £309) do a matching price since the B&Q official price for it is still £299 otherwise you could get a better deal. Nonetheless, I am quite happy with my purchase. The next cheapest online I can found is £299 + delivery.

Spin speeds are irrelevant, its the quantity of holes in the drum that will determine how dry your washing comes out. A washing machine spinning at 900rpm with more holes in the drum than one with a spin speed of 1400rpm will come out drier.

High spin speeds can also damage your clothes. Quite a few of my t-shirts have little holes on them and as I don't smoke any substance which causes it I had wondered what was going on til I read this

Still a hot deal, just use the 1400 speed with care.

sorry but that is completely wrong - the number of holes does influence the residual moisture, but spin speed is far more important. A 1400 spin machine will always beat a 900 rpm however many holes the 900 machine has.

If you need evidence check out the residual moisture % of different machines.

NO, you are wrong. The more holes there are the more escape routes for the water. Its not rocket science its just true! Imagine a drum with 5000 holes spinning at 900rpm and a drum with 500 holes spinning at 1400...or even 2000 rpm.....wheres the water gonna go?

Check with anybody that knows anything about how a washing machine works and they will tell you whats more important...faster spin speed or more holes, the answer, if they know their stuff, will be more holes every time.
