Apparently people have had troubles with this TV and the picture, read the reviews on AVForums first.

Bought this from amazon several months ago.

Poor picture, the screen is 29" view area. Colours washed out
not a good product at all. Sent it back not worth £50 in my opinion
#12
I've checked these out too.

Firstly, they're not that slim so if it's not going in a corner then don't bother.

Secondly, the picture is often distorted so things look stretched, particularly around the edges of the screen.

Thirdly, for about £55 extra you can get the 32" hannspree from eBuyer which I think is a much better deal for a much better set.

I had one and returned it. The quality was poor, the geometry was awful. No wonder these have gone down in price. I recommend not purchasing one of these.
#14
I have heard a fair few people say there are problems with them, but I ahve also heard that some of them are ok?

One guy said he returned two and his 3rd was perfect? Couldn't you just return it for a replacement if it was that bad, as I am really tempted by this ??
#15
I have ordered this and got £9.95 tracked on quidco. Will give it a go if not ok will return.
#16
I would rather spend a few extra quid and get a LCD
#17
I guess they won't accept a return on large items like this TV?

Quoted from their T&C's:

We are unable to accept the return of selected items, large bulky items, domestic appliances or the copy of the NEXT Directory through our stores.

At last HD that will look smooth with no jagged pixels making it up.
LCD's have the advantage of being slimmer BUT
CRT will always give a better quality pic than LCD.

No it won't - LCDs are better with geometry and HD. This TV is gash.

Yes they will, just not through their stores as your quote says.

i remember when these came out there was quite a buzz (people thought they would get the best of both worlds what with it being HiDef and a CRT so standard def pictures would be good) but unfortunately as experienced by lots of folks over at avforums this tv is cack and isn't worth buying unfortunately
#20
Have cancelled order, at least quidco will still go through. Cheers for advice.
#21
i viewed one of these in a currys store and it actually looked pretty good. there is just too many bad ones though

Someone at the AVForums emailed Samsung about whether they plan to bring the newer Samsung Slim Fit HDTV sets to the UK that have the blujay chip to fix the geometry problems and here is what they had to say.

Samsung reply:

Unfortunately, we have no information on future launches at the moment.
We know that therewill be a new launch in October this year but we have
not been informed of the full extent yet.

We hope that this information will be published on the website as soon
as possible.

You can still buy the old CRT TVs when you want to purchase them from
the internet.

So I advise everyone to hold on till October if you don't want a dud set.

It would also explain the lack of stock of the WS32Z409TQX/WS32Z419TQX as they seem to have been discontinued from the production line at Samsung as far as I know.

Thanks for the responses people! Was about to spend ages on the net looking for reviews etc. Looked like the perfect solution for me (want to upgrade to a bigger better screen but can't afford LCD/Plasma) but now I know better!
#24
I bought one and it is fantastic.
